It's Our Own Fault

Well mine mostly.
Canon lately has been wearing a crown around the house that Laney made.
He wears it all the time. He has also taken up writing on the walls.
Our other kids never did this.
Somehow we knew that if any of our kids colored on the walls
it was going to be Canon.

It really is our own fault.

We did name him

Canon.

Dear Life

I am not really sure how this happened. I would like to blame it on you but alas that would just be blaming myself and that is kinda counterproductive dont you think? I wake up in the morning with a list a mile long of things that I should accomplish and realize I only have the energy for 1 or 2 things. Don't misunderstand me when I say that I only have the energy for a few things. I don't have a lot of things going on during the day. For the most part I find myself baffled at where the time has gone. But then I look back on my day and realize that cleaning up after 3 kids tends to be all encompassing. I found a colander in my bathroom the other day. Actually not just one but two. Two colanders. You know, the kitchen utensils you use to drain pasta. There they were just sitting in our bathroom. I am fairly certain that I didn't bring them in there. I cook dinner but not usually in the bathroom. Germs and all, and not a very good work space. So if I was a betting woman, which I am not, I would guess that the cooking in the bathroom was happening by Canon. While I could conjure up a whole lot of cool things that I am sure that Canon was doing with the colanders I am sure it was more or less boring. The basic: colander as a hat, using it to transport toys, or sitting on it and pretending it is a scooter. I don't have much that I have to do during the days but I do find it important to make sure that kitchen utensils stay out of the bathroom. Germs and all. So I took a picture, picked them up and placed them in the sink to be washed. This is what my life amounts too. I am not being poo-pooie about my life. I have chose this path and it is what it is. We have 3 kids that we take care of and that I am very proud to call mine. I have actually contemplated getting a sticker that says something along the lines of "My kids are cooler than your kids" but I don't want anyone to get their feelings hurt. I care like that. So as I sit here, doing absolutely nothing, I wonder what I have to show for my life except for some rocking children and a mighty fine husband? I have a good shoe collection and I like clothes a lot. But who really wants to listen to the style musings/ramblings of a 31 year old mother? So dear life, we are at an impasse. I am going to be 31 soon and have 3 kids, a husband, and colanders in the bathroom to show for it. What do you have to say for yourself?

What Is New In Our Hood...And Other Such Nonsense

  • Blake got a new calling at church. He is 1st counselor in the young men's presidency. That means that on Wed. nights he has to leave for a few hours to go play with the boys. Boo. Hiss.
  • We finally got our storage space unpacked the week after Christmas. It may be a little slice of lovely. It is like our own grocery store. All wrapped up with a "creepy door. The things that horror movies are made of." (now I am going to have to post pictures.)
  • I painted our downstairs wall a lovely shade of blue. Before the downstairs looked old (and in the houses defense--it is) But now it looks much more livable. For me at least.
  • Laney and Gavin's rooms have both been painted and we finally hung up the pictures on their walls.
  • In my spare time I have been contemplating the mysteries of the Universe and why it is that there are a ton of shows that I want to watch on Monday but come Tuesday it is slim pickins.
  • I have also cursed who ever it is in Vegas that is stealing our water. How? Do you ask...well I am not quite sure but I do know that it is to the tune of 9 thousand gallons, and it has been for the last 4 months. If I was a "finger flipping off" kind of gal I would so be doing that right now. However, I am more of a "random explosions of the word JERK" coming out of my mouth kind of lady.

Happy Birthday

Gavin turned 5 on Friday. For his annual Birthday cereal Gavin choose Frosted Cheerios. That night we went to Pizza Factory for dinner.
When asked if he enjoyed his birthday he said that his favorite part
was the desert.
On Saturday to celebrate we had a Superman themed party.
My Dad made these superman stickers for us that turned out really cute.
Everyone got one of these containers to take home after the party. Here are some of the superheroes. They all got capes to wear.
Some where cooperative with taking a picture
and wearing the capes...
some were not.
Notice the child in the yellow laying on the ground?
Some superheroes were little. Some came from far away. Gavin got a lot of great presents.Prior to opening presents Gavin got poked in the eye.
Which resulted in a lot of one eye pictures.
If only it were a pirate theme instead of Superman.
Aaarg maytee. You know a party is rocking when you loose your pants in the process.

I'm just saying.

Can't Understand Why No One Wants This

Blake likes to look at the free stuff on KSL.
(KSL is kind of like the Utah Craigs list. Although much cooler.)
Last night he came across this...
Second one down. We had us a good laugh.
Blake kept saying all night long
"Free huge bag of ladies...hee hee."

Surgery

Today Canon got tubes put in his ears.
He went to Primary Children's to have it done.
They had him dress in this cute little hospital gown.Everything went really well. He was pretty happy before the surgery, (He even tried to give the anesthesiologist a kiss), and he has been pretty happy since. He is a little wobbly walking and a little more sensitive but I am sure that will all clear up soon. They even gave him a sippy cup and a stuffed raccoon to take home with him.

Eve and The Actual Day

Santa came to our house the day before Christmas. We were all a little shocked when we heard the bells ringing outside our door. The kids thought it was a Christmas miracle. We thought that the guy in our ward that had had a Santa suit professionally made for him was hard core. We are OK with it. The kids got new jammies and we read The Night Before Christmas.
We partied it up by having Macaroni and Cheese for dinner. Jealous?Christmas morning the kids were in awe of the presents.
When we started opening presents Laney was so excited that she was shaking. Canon got a bucket full of Balls. I think that he was the most content with his present.
Canon's first word was "throw" and his second word was "ball."
We figured this present would tickle his fancy.
And it did.
When he saw the balls he just kept saying "Ball, ball, ball" and he tried to jump out of my arms just to get to them.
Laney got some dress up clothes from Grandpa and Grandma Jackie.
She has spent many days since walking around as one of the princesses.
Canon got a warm up suit from Grandma and Grandpa Miller.
He also got some new kicks from Laney. I got an awesome dress from Blake. Love it.
Blake got a new computer and monitor.
I think we are both quite content with out loot.
On a side note:
The week before Christmas my sister and I started this puzzle.
It is so hard.
So hard.
I finally gave up.
Dear Mr. Kinkade:
Your puzzle rocked my world and left me feeling less than adequate.
Well played Mr. painter. Well played.
