Done and To Be Done: A List

We are down to four weeks and counting.
I am looking forward to:
  1. My leg not hurting so bad that I can't stand up.
  2. Not having contractions on one side of my stomach.
  3. Being able to wear normal clothes. (I have for the most part stayed out of maternity clothes however, some of my shirts are starting to get tight or too short. Not a good look for anyone.)
  4. Seeing what this little girl looks like.
  5. Not being pregnant anymore. No matter how easy I have it being pregnant in general is not the most enjoyable thing.

Things I have done to get ready for baby:

  1. Mopped all upstairs floors and waxed.
  2. Washed baby clothes and put away.
  3. Purchased new fall clothes for the kids.
  4. Deep cleaned the kitchen including drawers, fridge, and cupboards.
  5. Organized office.
  6. Dusted and cleaned upstairs and down.

Things I would like to do before baby comes:

  1. Mop the upstairs and wax...again.
  2. Set up crib, wash blankets and sheets, get bouncy seat ready.
  3. Have menu planned and shopping done for when my mom comes to make it easier.
  4. Finish baby gifts for other people.
  5. Start on Halloween costumes.
  6. Organize Laney's drawers and Gavin's closet.
  7. Buy a second car.

Now that I have written a list the tasks don't seem quite so daunting. That is good.

Good for my sanity anyways.

Seven

Well my friends, It is official.
The date is scheduled and it is 7 weeks from last Friday.
August 27th the baby is coming.
My time is set for Noon.
Don't get me started on that.
I have you know that we are now 47 days and counting.
The Farmers market is open in Salt Lake.
I couldn't be happier.
I hope that we get to go at least 7 more times before the little one comes.
My sister and I took the kids and went on Saturday.
I got some yummy bread with roasted garlic, more bread, and some honey.
I am hoping that by going to the farmers market I will be able to keep up with my habit of eating a gazillion times a day.

Just Trucking Along

Our days lately consist of most of the same things over and over again.
Blake has been working a lot. In between work and Youngmens I am lucky if I see him 3 nights a week.
The kids and I have just been kicking it.
Waiting for the baby to come out.
Keeping ourselves occupied.
Trying not to lose our minds and go stir crazy.

In other news...The baby will most likely be born on August 27th. Unless she decides that she wants to come out early. Which I highly doubt. She seems to be fairly content in there.

Baby 101

I am now 27 weeks along.
  • This little girl is not a big mover and shaker. The doctor says it is because the placenta is at the front of my stomach so it makes it harder for me to feel her.
  • We are hoping that the doctor will do the c-section on the 25th of Aug. Which means I have less than 3 months to go.
  • When I wake up during the middle of the night I have the hardest time falling back to sleep. It normally takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. (At the 2 hour times I am about ready to lose it.)
  • I think my appetite has finally leveled out. Thank goodness.
  • I still weigh the same amount I did when I was this pregnant with Canon.
  • My "bigger" jeans still fit, but are starting to get snug.
  • I think I am in denial about the weight gain. I still can wear some tops but I am sure it won't be long until it is all maternity tops and pants for me.
  • I am dreading the day the maternity clothes have to come out.
  • Laney tells me on a daily basis that "the baby is taking too long to come out."
  • When ever we mention "baby" Canon will attack me, lift up my shirt until he can see my belly and then he'll push on it as hard as he can.
  • Gavin has informed me that I go potty a lot.
  • We still agree on one name but aren't set on it yet.
  • My Dad would like veto power for the name. I have told him that is not an option.

Twenty Three Weeks

Oh, here she is in all her glory.
My hair is not so glorious being that we were lounging around the house.
I didn't post the 5 month pictures so the almost 6 month ones will have to do.The other day my sister gave me all of her old baby clothes.
I am fairly certain this baby won't need a single article of clothing until she is a year and a half.
I sorted the clothes into piles by age and then put them neatly back into buckets.

On another baby note:
I was thinking the other day about baby names. Then I got to wondering if people think that we name our babies strange names? I think that Gavin is a pretty normal name and Laney isn't too strange...Canon may be a little out there...
I was wondering because I have had several people comment that they are interested in what this baby's name will be.
I think we are somewhat decided on a name unless we find a better one that trumps it.
We liked the name Penny, but that was axed due to the fact that her initials would have been P.U. and lets face it, you just can't do that to a child. It is cruel.
So rested assured we will try not to make life harder for her by giving her a weird name.

(I would also like to throw this out there...In our ward in Vegas there is a family that is having a boy and naming him Canon. So it must not be all that out there?)

That's what she said.

Perhaps

  • I may have eaten at least one kiwi a day if not more for the last week and a half.
  • I may have eaten this sandwich 3 days in a row and probably would have eaten it more times but we ran out of cheese. Which I believe is a blessing in disguise.
  • Before we knew whether this baby was a boy or a girl we may have had a boy name.
  • The boys name may have been Finn but was axed due to the fact that the boys initials would have been F.U.
  • I may weigh the exact same amount I did when I was this pregnant with Canon.
  • I may have just finished the last book in Fablehaven, and it was awesome.
  • We may be going to Vegas this weekend in order to get to see our family before I get too pregnant and before it gets too hot there.
  • Our house in Vegas may be closing today...fingers crossed.
  • This salsa may be my new favorite thing. (On a side note: if you are making this...I use 2 jalapenos, more onion, garlic and I normally add 1/2 tsp. of cumin, sugar and salt. I like it better that way.)

Baby

We are having another Girl.
Yeah.
We are happy that things will be even at our house.
Here is her profile.
Here is her attempt at modesty.
Those are legs crossed at the ankles for those of you that are not ultrasound pros.
Laney is very happy and wants the baby to come out now.

On a side note:
The other day when trying to explain how doctors can see what sex the baby is the following conversation took place.

Gavin: How can they tell if it is a boy or a girl?
Me: Babies are naked, so if it is a boy they will be able to see his wiener. If it is a girl they will be able to see her vagina.
Gavin: Her what?!
Me: Vagina. That is what girls have.
Gavin: Yeah. But what is it?
Me: It is her crotch.
Gavin: Oooh.
Laney: If it is a boy then I will not hold his wiener hand to play ring around the rosie.

If You All Can't Sleep Tonight, I Totally Understand

Tomorrow is the big day. We find out what this little creature is.
I have no idea.
Blake thinks it is a boy.
I do have to say I would be less shocked if it was a boy.
I am now 20 weeks along.
Halfway there.
This is what I looked like when I was pregnant with Canon at 20 weeks.
Maybe I will take a picture tomorrow if I am feeling like it.
My regular clothes are getting fairly snug.
That is always super fun.

Friday

Yesterday was lovely.
The sun was shining so the kids and I went into the back yard to play and relax.
I mostly laid on the grass to get my dose of sunshine.
The kids played and picked dandy lions. Canon could not leave "Gakcoon" in the house.
I am feeling better.
Most of my sores are healing. They are still there but not as painful, and mostly just itchy now.
The baby is starting to move around a lot more.
The other night I woke up because the baby was moving and thought to myself...
"Oh crap. It is the middle of the night and I am awake. What have we done?"
I feel like I am constantly eating. I am so hungry.
All. The. Time.
We find out if it is a boy or a girl on Wed.
I have not a clue.
Laney and Gavin really want a girl.
Canon wants neither.

We Are Having Baby Number 4.

There I said it.
I tried to think of fun or creative ways to say it but lets face it...number 4 is well....the forth.
Not any less important.
Just not as exciting as number 1.
So it is out there now.
That is how we roll.

PS. I just realized the other day, that by having another baby, when we go out to eat we are going to have a party of six all by ourselves. They are going to have to push tables together to accommodate us.

For All of Those Inquiring Minds

Still no baby.
But there will be on Wed. no matter what.
I have just been lazy.
Life has been pretty normal.

Random Thoughts and A Number

I have about ten days left until baby comes. So almost 1 week. Crazy.
One is also the number of pounds I gained and how much I was dilated at my last appointment.
We will soon have enough little people to hold up these foam hands. I feel like even if I clean every day there is still something else to clean. How does that happen?
I guess the real question is why do I clean everyday?I am a little concerned about Laney sharing when the baby comes. Lately Laney finds it necessary to remind me that "Canon has OWN Dee-dee (which is blanket in Laney language) NOT Neenee's (Laney) Dee-dee." Not only is she worried about her blanket but she has said the same thing about her pillow. She has also told me, "Canon sleep in Dada's (Gavin) room NOT Neenee's room." On a very large side note...I can't seem to decide what we should be for Halloween. This may be the last year I can get Gavin to be what I want him to be so the pressure is on.

Not 1 or 2 But...

Three weeks left until baby comes.
Three pounds is how much I gained at the last doctors appointment.
Three kids we will have soon. (That is a scary thought)
Three shirts is about all I have left that fit me.

The Update

Here is the baby low down. I am 33 weeks and have 5 more to go until the baby is born. Quite frankly it seems too quick. I am not really sure if I am ready for a new baby. You start every thing over again. Plus you don't get any sleep. But then again I can't wait for it to come mostly because I am tired of big clothes and big body. I have been having contractions quite frequently (that is pretty normal for me) so I just have to make it to 36 weeks and then the baby can come when ever he wants. But the best news of all....I only gained 3 pounds this last month. HOLLA!
It's a fact:
A Russian woman holds the record for having the most children. Between 1725 and 1765, she was pregnant 27 times and had 69 children.
Thank goodness we don't want that many kids!

Monday, July 28, 2008

  • two months left until baby comes
  • two pounds is all I gained at my last appointment
  • two people coming to help when baby is born
  • two new things is all we have bought for this baby (kinda sad. kinda cool)
  • two little kids that we already have that are not going to know what to do with themselves when the baby is here.
  • two more weeks until I go to appointments every two weeks
  • two hours seems to be my average wait time at the doctor

A couple of things that involve the number two but have nothing to do with baby:

  • two: the number of items that Blake is ordering today that will improve our transportation needs
  • two: the number of naps I am going to want to take today after all of the cleaning I have planned. Wish me luck.

Too Much Information

The other day while I was going to the doctor Gavin and Laney went to my friend Lindsey's house. As they were eating lunch Gavin informed Lindsey that
"The Baby does not eat cereal."
"That's right." said Lindsey
"They baby is only going to drink milk from my Mom's boobs."

Thanks Gavin for clearing that one up.

All Sorts of Baby

So here is the run down for everything baby thus far:
  • Baby is due October 5. However the tentative date for him to come is September 24. (I have a c-section. That is how I have a date.)
  • That makes me 26 weeks.
  • The baby is a boy and I am pretty sure that we have a name. However, it is subject to change.
  • I have gained 16lbs. already. Sad.
  • The baby is busy and moving around. Everything looks good on the ultra sounds. He is actually measuring the perfect size which my doctor has said that he has never seen before. We are hoping he is a perfect baby too...one can hope right.

  • This last month I have been really tired. I kept thinking that maybe the baby is just having a growth spurt but my doctor is checking to see if I am anemic or if there is a problem with my thyroid. (I'll let you all know.) I keep telling Blake that this last month that "the baby is kicking my trash."
  • We are pretty sure that he will look like one of these guys:

That way people can ask us if we have triplets.

Today

Today I cleaned 1 kitchen, 1 kitchen floor, 3 bathroom floors, 3 bathrooms, 1 bedroom, dusted a living room, family room and bedroom and cleaned and mopped 1 laundry room.
All done while lugging around this.... Hello Baby! We are now over half way there.

One Hundred and One

So I have not really answered any questions about the upcoming baby. So here is the jist so far.

  • Baby is Due October 5. (That makes me 4 months along. Also making Laney and the new baby almost 2 years apart.)
  • I have Not been sick or tired. (With the exception of the normal "I have two kids and they make me exhausted" tired.)
  • My body has figured out that, Oh yeah, we are doing this again.
  • Gavin is excited about the baby in Mommies tummy (He always pats it and says "there is a baby in there." Laney thinks the baby is in Mom's boob (She pats it and says "Bobby.")
  • Blake and I are undecided on names.
  • We should know the sex of the baby in four weeks. Cross your fingers that our baby flashes the ultrasound person.

So, hopefully this helps everyone. Now we would like your help. Names...lots of them. Go ahead recommend one. Maybe we will choose it.
