I Made A Pillow

I saw a picture of a pillow like this and thought "I can totally make that."
So I did.
Then I thought "I am going to take a nice picture of it. How about on the green bench?"
"Canon. Mom is trying to take a picture."
"Cheese."
"Cheeeese."
Alright maybe I will move it to the couch. It might look nicer there.
(Getting all centered....)
"Canon....seriously?!" "Mom is trying to take a picture of the couch."
"Cheese."
"Come here...Mom is going to give you a candy." Mission accomplished.

Now You See Me. Now You Dont.

On that last post I just kinda left you hanging there didn't I?
I needed a break.
Life has been a little strange here lately. I have gotten sick (colds, stomach flu, weird rash...) a lot while pregnant with this baby and I just haven't felt like myself.
The weather here in Utah is bipolar. Sun shining one day and snowing the next. I am sure that hasn't helped the state of things.
I realized the other day that in the 8 years that Blake and I have been married we have moved 7 times.
I am sure that is not helping the state of things either.
The yellow car broke down on Friday. We won't know what is wrong with it until today. Fingers crossed, but Blake thinks it might be the engine. Sad.
My Dad came and visited. It was fun. Pictures to come.
We have been planning our annual Easter party. Pictures to come on that too.
Oh.
PS: Baby is due Sept. 4th. I am 18 weeks along. We find out if this little critter is a boy or a girl on the 14th of April.

We Are Having Baby Number 4.

There I said it.
I tried to think of fun or creative ways to say it but lets face it...number 4 is well....the forth.
Not any less important.
Just not as exciting as number 1.
So it is out there now.
That is how we roll.

PS. I just realized the other day, that by having another baby, when we go out to eat we are going to have a party of six all by ourselves. They are going to have to push tables together to accommodate us.

Quick Fix

This is a dress that I have had my eye on for quite sometime. It finally went on sale and I was trying to decide if it was going to be too short for me. I have come to find out that I must have a freakishly long torso because dresses are always too short on me even when they come to other peoples knees. After much debate I decided just to give it a go. If it was too short I could just return it. Well long story, still kinda long...it was too short on me. Not such a big surprise. But I just couldn't part with it. So I decided to add the black band at the bottom to make it long enough. I have to say that I heart it quite a bit. I wore it to church a couple of Sunday's ago and got lots of compliments on it. Sure, a skirt with a "tunnel of love" or a "fortunes stand" might not be up every ones alley but it is sure up mine.
(Thanks Clee for braving the mall and picking it up for me.)

That Feels Better

When we first moved into this house Gavin and Laney were both sad about leaving their rooms behind in Vegas. Gavin said that he missed his "Superman wall" and Laney said she missed her pink bedroom. We are renting this house but I just felt like I couldn't live here for a couple of years with out making it feel like "ours" and I wanted the kids to feel like they have a space that belongs to them. Thank goodness that paint is relatively cheap. This room started out a horrible beige color. Not that beige is bad...but in this room it made it feel old and like a dirty dungeon. Laney's room is the only room with ducts on the ceiling. Beige coupled with ducts made for a very unattractive space. This room also has a mystery door. Not that it is a mystery to us...(it goes to our storage room) but it did tend to add a little creep factor. But if you paint a strange door pink and blue it makes it not so "this is what scary movies are made of."
The trees painted on the walls are Laney's favorite feature. She waited somewhat impatiently for me to finish the pink tree. But now that it is done she tells me all the time that the pink tree is her favorite.

It Was Bound To Happen

Not much is happening at our house lately. Nothing worth blogging about anyways. The kids say funny things so that seems to be the theme of this blog lately. Truth be told most of the people reading this blog care more about them then what is going on in my life anyways. Which by the way is nothing. I am working on a couple of projects and as soon as I finish them I will post pictures.

On another note:
The other day when shopping at Walmart we were standing in line to check out when I had the following conversation with Laney:
Laney: Why is that persons skin black?
Me: Well that is just the color of their skin.
Laney: Are they a boy or a girl?
Me: They are a girl.
Laney: What is their name?
Me: Their name is Lanette
Laney: Can they not talk?
Me: No. They can talk.

I figured one day this would come up. I had hoped it would be in the privacy of our house or car. But what are you going to do? When I was telling Blake the story he asked if I was embarrassed. I told him No. If an adult can't understand why a child is curious then that is their own fault. I always figured that Gavin would be the one to say something like that. However, lately he has been telling me that people have different hair, and skin, and eyes and that that is OK. It is nice to see he is learning diversity in preschool. Especially living here in Utah where there is not much of it.

Honesty

On Monday night we had family home evening. We were talking to the kids about honesty and lying.

During our lesson Gavin said:

"This is my favorite thing about lying....but I'm not going to do it."
and
"I know a lot about lying."
Well at least he is honest.

Triple

I have had a little more motivation lately. Not much but a little.
I went for a walk the other day. It was nice.
Now I have another cold. This girl can't catch a break.
Unless you count this: These are some shoes I picked up from Anthropologie. I bought them for 69 dollars (that is relevant for the story.)
I just sold them on Ebay.
People have been looking for them so I figured...I don't wear mine, might as well sell them.
So I did.
I started the bidding at 79.
The bidding ended at 252.
No lie.
Triple what I paid.
Nice.
