Camping

The remainder of our trip was spent camping. Every year growing up we would go to Banks Lake so I was so excited to finally go again.
We spent a lot of time in the sun. Eating. Trying to warm up/dry off. Grandpa spent a lot of time pushing kids on the swings. Penny spent a good amount of time eating dirt or playing in it. The kids got their first boat ride. Canon evidently thought that it would be fun to randomly pour out a juice box. He also threw some rocks. And when throwing one wasn't enough he would throw two. Gavin also tried his hand at waterskiing. It was a success. (check out the people in the background.)
Laney decided to give it a go too. Steve did his best to pump her up.She did it. I would be lying if I didn't say that watching my kids waterski made me cry. I was so proud of them. For not only doing it but just for trying. When it was time for her to stop you can just see the melt down happen.Jeremy came to her rescue. Then she got a congratulatory hug and snuggle from Grandpa. His hug must have been a good one because she decided to go skiing again the next day. Canon tried his hand at trying to sleep on rocks. It was not successful. Glasses were worn. Sunglasses were tried on. Glasses were switched. Sunglasses and glasses were compared to see how they matched up in terms of style and comfort. A creepy bug darn near fell on my head one night and scared the living daylights out of me. All the kids climbed this tree numerous times. Hide and seek was played. Babies were safe in their life vests but uncomfortable none the less. Grandma not only held a gun but also let us take a picture. Naps were taken close to where our family was...and a nap was also taken, by my nephew, next to complete strangers in the sand. (He is the one in the middle with the pink life vest on.)Mostly we just loved on each other all week long and it was wonderful.

Troll

We have been home for a week and I have only managed to do one post about Washington. Consider this a warning.

Going home to Washington is just that. Going home. It makes me feel like a little kid. Like at any moment I could get chastised for not picking up my shoes. My Mom always laughs at me because I always have a long list of things that I want to do when I am there, most of which include eating. We checked off a bunch of stuff on the list. First stop was the Fremont Troll. The kids were a little apprehensive about going to see a Troll. The mischievous parent in me wanted to tell the kids that the troll was real, however, the more responsible side won out. Some enjoyed it more than others. For the Unguren's: Troll = family photo op. I spy with my little eye a girl in green shorts over to the right. I know we have a lot of kids but I am fairly certain that one doesn't belong to us. Well...at least 85% sure. In our attempt to get the perfect shot we had to attempt some dangerous feats, and kiss some trolls along the way. It was worth it. Picking the trolls nose, Classic Blake. Just another reason I love him. Seriously, look at him...he's funny. Speaking of side show acts, check out Penny's arms. That's the stuff circus acts are made of. The kids are always a little unruly when it comes to family pictures but with Grandma they all manage to look at the camera and not make any weird faces. I suppose that is how it is suppose to be.

The Business Of Picking Berries

Our trip to Washington was a blast. Be prepared for an onslaught of pictures.

We did a little bit of lounging around. Barbies were played with daily. Mallets were pounded but nothing or no one was injured...that I know of anyways. We also went and picked some blueberries. I thought for sure that the kids would loose interest after about 10 minutes, but they surprised me and were hard core.Everyone grabbed some pails, and the picking began. We take berry picking very seriously at our house. Child labor laws be damned. Some kids took the "go out and get 'em" approach. Others contemplated their berry picking skills and progressed onward at the appropriate pace. Some were meticulous. Then there were those that ate them as soon as they were off the bush. Heck, that little girl grabbed them so fast and ate them that you had to be careful she didn't eat a finger. All the kids were determined to fill their bucket. Canon got so excited about the amount of berries in his bucket that he came to show us. Slow down bud. This cannot end well. I would just like to point out that I think this was the point of no return for Canon. Falling was the catalyst for a bad remaining picking experience. Poor kid just needed a win. His bucket was empty most of the time. The few berries that were in there I picked and put them in. Instead of picking he decided to spend his time eating. By the handful. Smart kid. His little sister followed suit. When it was time to leave he was....devastated. Gavin and Laney had filled up their buckets about half way and his only had a few in it. There was screaming, and crying, and at one point he threw himself down in the middle of the road by an outhouse in protest. Then we pointed out the turkeys. No one can be mad after looking at one of those weird looking birds. When you look at their ugly faces, your problems seem so small.
