Like Sands Through The Hour Glass, So Are The Days Of Our Lives

See that boy? The cute one?
Not the younger one. The one in the back with the cut above his eyebrow and the scraped up knee.
He is a chick magnet. No lie.
Gavin has got game.
Who knew?
The other day Gavin's school had something that they call "Block walk." It is kind of like a carnival to raise money for the school. When we arrived this girl came running up to him, threw her arms around him and said "Gaaaavin!"
As the night went on this little girl named Maggie would not let him out of her sight.
I was told later that she had been talking earlier that day to a girl in Gavin's class and telling her that she was going to kiss Gavin.
Well, mission accomplished.
Maggie got her smack on on the swings at Block walk.
She kissed Gavin right on the lips.
This is not Gavin's first kiss. He seems to be a seasoned vet these days. All the ladies want to kiss him.
I had to explain to Gavin that we probably shouldn't be walking around kissing at school.
Maggie kept trying to kiss him the next week and he kept telling her that they didn't need to kiss anymore.
Evidently Maggie does not like the sting of rejection because Gavin came home and told me that Maggie said that she wasn't his friend anymore.
Is it just me or has the drama started early...
and the kissing that must be early too. Right?
But really can you blame Maggie?
Gavin's got game.
And cuts and scars.
Chicks dig that.

Canon

Today our little boy turns two.
I am having a hard time believing it.
It seems like he was just born...and now he is a full blown toddler.

We may have someone that is younger than him in our home now...
but he will always be my baby.

Deals and Steals

The other day I got a email from Oldnavy telling me about a deal that they were having online.
Most of the time I quickly hit the delete button when I get one of these but this one had me intrigued.
The deal was that if you buy one Adult item you could get one kid item for free.
After putting things in my basket and taking them out I realized that there was a glitch in their deal.
You could buy a pair of sock/slippers for $3.50 and get a full priced kid item for free.
Done and done.
18 items later we had 18 items for free for a total of 36 items. It breaks down like this:
2 coats, 2 sweatshirts, 1 dress shirt, 1 boys tee, 1 boys sweater, 4 girls tees, 2 dresses, 2 pairs of pajamas, 1 pair of swoosh pants, and 2 nice pairs of pants. Normally just these items by them self would cost around $400.
Total cost for everything: $87.
Holla!
The other day we also finally listed our Squareback. (sad face)
(Mind you, the car did not work.)
We listed it for $600 thinking that if we got $500 for it that would be OK too.
Long story short...a bidding war ensues....the car ends up leaving our house and we are $800 richer.
Good bye my yellow friend. I will miss you, but the extra $200 will help ease the pain.

Being Productive

Canon has taken it upon himself to be our resident Wall artist.
I can't say that I am too happy about this.
He just doesn't understand the phrase Don't color on the walls.
When I say something along the lines of "Canon, do we color on walls?"
He answers with "Yes. Color walls. Color paper."
O man. Deep breaths.
I finally finish the kids new bath towels.
No applause necessary. It only took a month and a half.
I am super speedy like that.

Difference Of Opinion

Last night Blake and I were talking about how little Canon's waist is.
Then Blake said "You know who has the smallest waist? Penny."
Now when Blake says that she has the smallest waist he is not kidding. When compared to her size her waist is significantly smaller than normal.
I told Blake that when ever I change her diaper I can't help but think of those frogs that you dissect in Junior High. The ones with the swollen bellies, tiny little waists and normal sized legs.
That is just what Penny looks like.

Blake said that when he changes her diaper he thinks of Mr. Incredible.
Same theory. Swollen belly, tiny waist, normal sized legs.

Umm...Mr. Incredible is far less morbid than my dissected frog.

Laney's First Day of Preschool

After waiting very impatiently for preschool to start the day finally arrived.
Much to my everlasting excitement she chose clothes that actually matched.
She couldn't wait to wear her shoes with the purple jewels on them.
Laney was also very excited about her princess backpack.
Notice all of that shimmer, and sequins and princess stuff?
Right up her alley.
She was a little apprehensive about going into her class room but once she got through the door she was fine.
Now she just keeps talking about all of the friends she has whose names she cannot remember.
Laney and ? = BFF forever.

Due Date

September 4th was the day Penny was due.
Instead we have had her for a month.
We love her quite a bit.
I have walked in a few times on some unsupervised holdings.
Canon just can't seem to stay away.
The kids always feel the need to tell me when Penny is crying.
Even if I am sitting right by her.
She is slowly growing out of her preemie clothes but doesn't quite fit into newborn yet.
What they need to do is make in-betweenie clothes.
When she was first born we took these pictures of her to show how little she was.It looks like she is growing.
Even if it is slowly.

Pop It Like It's Hot

I found this idea for a wreath on my friend Natalie's blog.
I love it.
It will come in quite handy for Canon's birthday that is coming up
and for any other Birthday too.

Big Things Are Happening

I feel like I am living my life in a cloudy haze.
It is very surreal.
I think it is the lack of sleep and days just blending into each other.
I have a million pictures to share and stories to tell.

So in an attempt to catch up I will start at the only logical place to begin...the end.

Gavin had his first day of Kindergarten on Monday.
He was excited to wear his Batman symbol shirt and have a new teacher, Miss Barnes. (In that order.)
He has homework everyday which I am sure will make him smarter.
Just maybe not smart enough to NOT close his mouth in the door.
Yes, I said that right.
Lips in door.
