Hours Of Fun

Day 2

On the second day of Hananuka my husband gave to me

Flowers.

The card said "I see one flower, No, I see two, three there may be, Actually, there are four for you. (Have you found them all?

After searching our downstairs I found them all. They all came with accompanying cards.

"Though the world keeps turning, there's one thing straight and true, the breathless beauty of a flower, the very same I see in you."

"No poem here, no not a one. Except for this about my hon. The End."

"I like flowers, you do too. If you were a flower I'd want you."

These are the cards that came with the flowers. Did I mention that I have a sneaking suspicion that my friend Cathy is a big fat liar.
*I would like to make an amendment that Cathy is not a big fat liar. My husband is just more talented than I give him credit for.

Hananuka

Put on your yamika it's time to celebrate Hananuka! OK, so my holiday really has nothing to do with the Jewish holiday but who doesn't love a little Adam Sandler song? Hananuka has begun! For those of you not familiar with the holiday it is 7 days of Hannah goodness.

Day 1: The Zoolander Soundtrack

The poem on the card says:

And thus it's begun...
Hananuka has come,
We've waited all year
Now grab a root beer.

Cause it's celebratin' time
And it starts with this rhyme.
The next step's simple too,
This is what you do

On the Ipod press play
For a moment just stay
Till you hear the song blast
Then dance like your past.

This is Hananuka's theme,
No doubt it may seem,
That Zoolander's the way,
Have a ridiculously good looking day.

Come On In

This is our house. I do realize that some of you know what our house looks like. But for those of you that do not, here is a little tour of the downstairs. Upstairs we will save for a later date.

I am proud of our food storage. We also have some in the closet under the stairs.

Whoo Hoo!

Blake just got the big news that he is now officially a P.E. (In terms that everyone will understand, he is now a Professional Engineer.) This is when you get your own stamp so that you can approve plans.

If The Shoe Fits

  • So the other day I was thinking, If I was a shoe what shoe would I be? (This really isn't that far fetched. People compare themselves to inanimate objects all the time, right? Who cares if I am crazy, back to the question at hand.) Out of all the shoes in my closet (and there are a few to choose from) what shoe am I? After much thought and consideration I decided.

    These ones are me.

  • They are white and look a little worn. Not to sound racist but I am white. Not so much worn, yet, but I do have a lot of freckles and moles.
  • They have some monster heels. They could do some serious damage if I wanted to use them as a instrument of death. I like to think that I am the say way.
  • Little peep toe. Although properly covered most of the time I still do show a modest amount of skin.
  • Button on top to finish it off. I do have a small "button" nose. And I think that most of the time I use a button (i.e. - jeans button, shirt button) to hold all of me in.
  • Lastly they are a little funky. Not quite normal but not so weird that you might gasp in horror when you saw them. I think that sums it up.

What kind of shoe would you be?

Please Don't Weigh Me

This is Laney's new car seat! (Yes, forward facing.) I do realize that she is not "technically" the weight limit. But for what she lacks in weight she makes up in personality.

(For the intriguing minds that want to know Laney is 15mo. and 18lbs. 11oz.)

Spring Is Here Part 2

So these are the pillows...what do you think? The front white one is one that I am going to make. So that is why it looks all loose. They are suppose to go with the pictures Good or No?

Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down.

Yesterday I was having one of those days. Everything and everyone was bothering me. I found a small measure of relief by going to the store but all I could think of all day long was "Seriously how long is this day going to last?!" Finally Blake arrived home. You would think that him arriving earlier than normal would give me some kind of satisfaction. No. Nothing gave me any satisfaction yesterday. He took the kids to the store so that I could take a bath and be alone. (Good Husband) Then as a surprise he bought for me a treat. (Great Husband.) Something to cheer me up.

Oh, the pink frosted cookie. A little ray of sunshine on a otherwise cloudy day! My Kryptonite if you will. Now I was faced with a dilemma. Do I eat all of them? I know I will if they stay around. Do I eat one and then throw the rest in the trash? Who am I kidding the trash won't stop me. Do I not eat none? That way eliminating the temptation. If I don't eat one I won't know what I am missing. Or do I save one and have Blake take the rest to work? But then everyone would be enjoying MY sunshine, MY cookies.

Thankfully Blake went to work this morning. If he took the cookies with him I have only two options to choose from. Guess we will see.

There Is A New Sheriff In Town

Gavin has taken it upon himself to make sure that we run a tight ship at our house. (or any other house for that matter.) His favorite things to say are:

  • "We don't say 'Oh my gosh' we say 'Oh my goodness.'" (He will tell this to random people everywhere!)
  • "Her name isn't Jackie, it is Grandma Jackie"
  • "Laney don't hit or I will put you in timeout" To which I normally reply "Gavin don't tell Laney what to do."
  • "Mom, Laney has....(insert something here: aka, toy, toothbrush, electric saw)...you need to put it away."
  • We don't touch the breakables.

I can't disagree with him most of the time because he is in fact correct. We don't say Oh my gosh, her name is Grandma Jackie, Laney should not hit, I probably should take that flame thrower from her, and we should not touch breakables. Is Gavin correct? Yes. Yes he is.

Sticks and Stones...

Watching American Idol sets the scene.

Hannah: Blake that girl is a horrible singer.
Blake: Yeah, she is.
Hannah: But her husband loves her so much and thinks that she is a good singer. Would you let me try out for American Idol?
Blake: No Way! You'd make a fool of yourself!

Thanks honey. Tough love.

Olive You!

My kids are olive lovers. How could you not love a little black tasty goodness? Salty, good! Holes in them to place on fingers, good! Just the right size to pop in mouth, goooood!
I too love olives, I remember one time I stayed home from school sick when I was younger and consumed a whole can olives. I was in olive heaven. Not only did I get to eat a whole can but I didn't have to share. I did have to hide the evidence under my bed but I quickly got over that remorseful side. I also got over the the olive euphoria about a half hour later, when the olives rebelled and decided to come out the way they went in. Still love them though!

I'm Tree!

Happy Birthday Gavin!!
This morning Gavin got to eat his "Birthday Cereal." (The idea came from our friends the Somes) We let him pick out any cereal that he wanted and he decided on Apple Jacks.
Then for lunch we went to meet Grandma Dana at McDonald's. Gavin referred to McDonald's all day long as "Old McDonald." Not to be confused with how he refers to Panda Express as American Express.
The finale was pizza at Costco (big spenders I know) and opening his present. He got a keyboard that you hook up to the TV so you can play games and learn to play the piano. Think of guitar hero but for a three year old with a keyboard.

Just As I Suspected

Laney: mmph
Gavin: Uh, huh
Laney: bah bah bah
Gavin: yeah
Laney: doh doh doh doh
Gavin: No Laney I'm playing with them.

This all happening while Laney is trying to pull some Mardi Gras looking necklaces off of Gavin's neck. Just solidifying the fact that Laney doesn't talk because everyone understands her already.

Other funny things Gavin said today:
My tummy is full and it hurts. I need a Capri Sun to go in here (pointing to his mouth) so that it will make me feel better.

Laney is a nativity. (Putting a blanket on Laney's head)

I Feel Like Spring!

When Springtime comes around I feel the need for a little change. So we will say Good bye Asian themed living room hello birds and trees. I love the store Anthropologie. It has such fun funky stuff. I always walk through the store (trying to hold back the dry heaves when I look at the prices) and point out all the things I would get if I had tons of money. They had pictures that look like these but since I can't/won't buy them I made them...so here they are.

And....nothing says outdoors and spring like some sticks in vases.
Lastly we will add a little bit of bright color with these pillows to be purchased at a later date.

Come Again?

The conversation the other night went something along the lines of this:

Gavin: Daddy will you do a favor for me?
Blake: Did you ask if I will do a favor for you?
Gavin: No, will you do a favor for Laney?
Blake: Maybe what is it?
Gavin: she wants you to, and the blender goes eearrrh, and you just mix it and hahahah!
Blake: What? You want me to use the blender?
Gavin: No. Laney wants you to make cookie dough.

I am still trying to figure it out on this end too.

I Am So Proud

My Husband!

He is so truly gifted. I think that we are all blessed that he shared his talent with us!

I Am Just Resting My Eyes.

Sometimes the life of a one year old can be SO exhausting.
(A little side note Laney is sleeping.)

So Sad...5 Days Later

I would just like to say that I love the Amazing Race! I know that it is weird to get that involved with a show but I just can't help myself. My favorites on the show were Kynt and Vyxsin. I loved them but alas they got the boot last week. I am still in mourning so I will shed a black tear for my goths. Goodbye cruel TV.

Eat Me!

I realize as time goes on how much all kids tend to do the same things. Our kids have worn many of their meals. I am pretty sure that stain stick could survive with the revenue that I give them. It is nice to see that I tortured my parents equally as much with my eating habits. (Pictures of me are the old ones. I figured that most people could figure this out but I like to help out those that can't.)
