Quiet Time

During quiet time at our house Gavin mostly plays quietly in his room. But, on occasion we find him like this with bangs and all.

"I'll Admit that In the Past I've Been a Nasty..."

Gavin has a little obsession with the Little Mermaid. Today while his friend Bailey was over it was decided that he would be Ariel and she would be Sleeping Beauty.
He also told me "Daddy is going to be king,"
"and Mommy is Ursula."I am sure that by the end of pregnancy I will resemble her more, minus the tentacles.

Sunday Antics or Just Good Modeling?

What? Going to church? Wouldn't it be more fun if you just take my picture?and...pose. Look how my train matches my tie. That is not a coincidence. I call this smile "Magnum." Yep, I am bringing my "A" game.

One Hundred and One

So I have not really answered any questions about the upcoming baby. So here is the jist so far.

  • Baby is Due October 5. (That makes me 4 months along. Also making Laney and the new baby almost 2 years apart.)
  • I have Not been sick or tired. (With the exception of the normal "I have two kids and they make me exhausted" tired.)
  • My body has figured out that, Oh yeah, we are doing this again.
  • Gavin is excited about the baby in Mommies tummy (He always pats it and says "there is a baby in there." Laney thinks the baby is in Mom's boob (She pats it and says "Bobby.")
  • Blake and I are undecided on names.
  • We should know the sex of the baby in four weeks. Cross your fingers that our baby flashes the ultrasound person.

So, hopefully this helps everyone. Now we would like your help. Names...lots of them. Go ahead recommend one. Maybe we will choose it.

Doing Much Better. Thanks.

Welcome to Our BIG Ball of Suck!

As some people may know Blake's moms house got broken into about a year ago. The thieves not only took many of her belongings and some personal things but they also have tried to open up credit cards in her name, have opened up bank accounts and most recently filed a tax return in her name. Sucky right?

Blake and I filed our taxes about a month and a half ago and got them back in the mail because we forgot to sign them. So we sent them back in and have been patiently waiting for our money. When we looked on the IRS website and put in our information it said that we should receive our money by April 15. For those of you not up to date April 15th has passed. What is the big deal you ask? It has been bothering me to no end...I am not sure why just bugging me. So today I told Blake to call and see what they said. Much to our surprise someone filed a tax return in Blake's name using his social security number. The good thing is we sent in all of our papers and they know that the other is fraudulent. The bad: they have Blake's social security number, his name, they are not afraid to use it.

On a more interesting note, the person that Blake talked to at the IRS told him all of the information for the person that filed the fraudulent return such as name, address, and phone number. I thought for sure that they would be from Vegas. Nope. They are from Bothell Washington. Their address is 6 minutes from where Blake grew up. Our home town.

If only I were big and could go over to their house and rough them up. You know, give them the peoples elbow, or jab out their eyes. Alas I am not.

Welcome to Sucks Ville for a day or a lifetime. Population our family. Anyone want to come to visit?
(there is a sign when you drive into Bothell that says "Welcome to Bothell for a day or a lifetime." High School kids would always black out the "Bot" in Bothell to make it read "Welcome to Hell for a day or a lifetime.")

One more thing. After Blake's mom got broken into we did put a thing called Lifelock on his SSN so that no one could open up credit cards with his SSN with out us knowing. Thank goodness for the small miracles.

Super Heros are for Suckers!

Gavin quite frequently walks around the house with his blanket on his head. Super hero cape you ask?

Nope. We asked him. "These are my bangs."

Grandma's Creation

A big

Thank You

to Grandma Miller for making Laney look so cute on Sunday in her new dress, ready for nursery.

(Laney loved it too even though she doesn't look like it in the pictures. Her pockets were her favorite, she kept putting her hands in them.)

Another Girl Cousin

Welcome to the world Maleah! My sister Ramonah had this cute little girl today that weighed 7lbs. 14oz. So she gets a blog shout out Holla!

Must Finish Pretzels

On the way home from Utah Gavin was falling asleep while eating pretzels. There was some determination to eat those pretzels however, he lacked on the follow through.

Our Pilgrimage to "The Holy Land," and Back to "Sin City."

We went to Utah to see my sister Sarah's baby Addison. She is just the cutest little thing. Here are a few things I discovered along the way:

  1. Our kids travel well in the car with these things; Tasty beverage, snacks that they don't get at home, a new toy, and their blankets from their beds.
  2. Laney is terrified of Dogs (not that this is a new thing or that it pertains to this trip in any way...) but she is also terrified of Cats. (My sister Sarah has 2.)
  3. Laney gets very concerned when things are not how they should be. Case in point: if Addison was sleeping and the pacifier was near by she was concerned that Addison was not using it.
  4. Hotel rooms are fun. They are however not as fun as the room you go to to get ice in the Hotel. Way more Fun!
  5. Our kids would gladly be with anyone but us.
  6. You can buy our kids toys and they will love you for it. Chances are that if you didn't buy them a toy they would still love you anyways. But now every time they get out that toy they will let me know that you bought it for them.
  7. Gavin loves everyone but evidently when Grandpa asks him who he loves the answer will always be Grandma Jackie.
  8. Our kids get hurt a lot.
  9. Kids with no naps and little sleep are not horrible until the day is almost over, then watch out!
  10. Hotels are always better with your own pillow.

Yummy Kebabs

In light of Hells Kitchen starting up again I am going to please some of my friends and share two delicious recipes.
Pork Satays
Ingredients:
1 jar hoisin sauce (8 oz.)
1/2 c. chili garlic sauce
1/2 c. honey
1/4 c. rice vinegar
2 T. Asian sesame oil
1 pork tenderloin, trimmed and cut (into about 12 strips each about 4-6" long.)
Mix together all ingredients. Add pork tenderloin. Place on skewers. Cover and cook 3-4 minutes. Flip satays, baste with left over marinade, then grill until cooked through, 3-4 more minutes.
Coconut- Marinated Chicken Kebabs
Ingredients:
1 1/4 lb. boneless skinless chicken breast
1/2 lb. fresh pineapple
1 large green bell pepper
For Marinade:
1 can coconut milk (14 oz.)
1/2 c. sugar
2 jalapenos (seeded and diced)
1 t. kosher salt
juice of 1 lime
Combine all marinade ingredients. Cut pineapple, chicken and peppers into 2" chunks. Place in large resealable plastic bag. Add marinade to bag and let stand 5 minutes. Start with chicken alternate between pineapple and pepper, ending with chicken. Grill for 8-10 minutes per side or until chicken is cooked through basting with reserved marinade every 3 minutes.
Enjoy because they taste sooo good!

Hells Back

What can I say...when I hear him say "Shut up you Donkey!"
I get a little gitty.

Can You Fix My Hair to Cover My Growing Midsection?

Both of our kids love to play with my hair. Gavin is always asking if he can touch it. Wet or Dry they don't care. Gavin's job was evidently fixing my bangs. Laney was doing the smoothing or the lack there of. This is the finished product....not to bad minus the fluff on one side. Doesn't Laney look proud. Here are all of us after a bang revamp. (Maybe we will have to work with Gavin a little on the bangs.)
My children the hair stylists. Now if only we could do something about Laney's lack of hair. Perhaps Gavin can concoct something in the kitchen maybe some all natural baby Rogaine?
