Our Little Secret

I just had the following conversation on the phone with a gentleman with a very heavy Mexican accent.
Me: Hello?
Is this Hannah?
Me: Yes.
Hi.
Me: Hi.
----------silence-------
Me: Who is this?
This is Alfredo.
Me: Alfredo, I don't know who you are.
We met online.
Me: No we didn't.
Are you sure? Did I dial the wrong number?
Me: I don't know if you have the wrong number...My name is Hannah and this is my number.
We didn't meet online?
Me: Nope. I am married with 3 kids and one on the way. I am pretty sure we didn't meet online Alfredo.
Are you sure?
Me: Yep.
OK. Bye.
Me: bye.

My Girl

Laney is a funny little girl.
I am sure that all people think that their kids are entertaining...
I do too.
She does funny things that make me laugh but she also does things that are strange...but just normal for her.
The other day we bought her a new bathing suit.
She was thrilled.
When we got home she put it on (with her underwear still on).
She let us know that she wanted to wear it for quiet time. So we let her.
She wore that bathing suit the rest of the day.
After quiet time was over she still wanted to wear it but I told her to go put some clothes on.
She did. Over her bathing suit. Laney has always been a funny little talker. When she was little it almost sounded like she had a speech impediment.
She talks a lot and likes to tell stories or just inform you of what has happened during the day.
Most of the time when she is really into her story she does a funny little "click" noise with her tongue. This lets us know that she is gearing up to tell us something good.
Such as:
"The joker is funny because he tells jokes. He said lets go make a snowman...(click)...and there isn't any snow."

Perhaps

  • I may have eaten at least one kiwi a day if not more for the last week and a half.
  • I may have eaten this sandwich 3 days in a row and probably would have eaten it more times but we ran out of cheese. Which I believe is a blessing in disguise.
  • Before we knew whether this baby was a boy or a girl we may have had a boy name.
  • The boys name may have been Finn but was axed due to the fact that the boys initials would have been F.U.
  • I may weigh the exact same amount I did when I was this pregnant with Canon.
  • I may have just finished the last book in Fablehaven, and it was awesome.
  • We may be going to Vegas this weekend in order to get to see our family before I get too pregnant and before it gets too hot there.
  • Our house in Vegas may be closing today...fingers crossed.
  • This salsa may be my new favorite thing. (On a side note: if you are making this...I use 2 jalapenos, more onion, garlic and I normally add 1/2 tsp. of cumin, sugar and salt. I like it better that way.)

Things That Make Me Smile

Canon talking about his Raccoon and Ratatouille.

Most of the time when he is talking to Ratatouille he is bossing him around. Pointing his finger and scolding "Two-ee!"

Our kids love to jump off of the couch.

Gavin is quite graceful at it...Laney not so much.

Baby

We are having another Girl.
Yeah.
We are happy that things will be even at our house.
Here is her profile.
Here is her attempt at modesty.
Those are legs crossed at the ankles for those of you that are not ultrasound pros.
Laney is very happy and wants the baby to come out now.

On a side note:
The other day when trying to explain how doctors can see what sex the baby is the following conversation took place.

Gavin: How can they tell if it is a boy or a girl?
Me: Babies are naked, so if it is a boy they will be able to see his wiener. If it is a girl they will be able to see her vagina.
Gavin: Her what?!
Me: Vagina. That is what girls have.
Gavin: Yeah. But what is it?
Me: It is her crotch.
Gavin: Oooh.
Laney: If it is a boy then I will not hold his wiener hand to play ring around the rosie.

If You All Can't Sleep Tonight, I Totally Understand

Tomorrow is the big day. We find out what this little creature is.
I have no idea.
Blake thinks it is a boy.
I do have to say I would be less shocked if it was a boy.
I am now 20 weeks along.
Halfway there.
This is what I looked like when I was pregnant with Canon at 20 weeks.
Maybe I will take a picture tomorrow if I am feeling like it.
My regular clothes are getting fairly snug.
That is always super fun.

Kicking It 2005 Style

When Blake and I first moved to Vegas we only had one car.
We had sold my Honda when we moved because it didn't have air conditioning.
It was a smart move on our part.
We only had Gavin and we were living in this new city in an apartment that was only a few minutes from Blake's new job. We had good intentions of getting a new car but didn't want to have to make payments and we wanted to buy a house. So I went without having a car for over 2 years. People thought I was crazy, and maybe I was. I had started out in Vegas without a car and so it wasn't that bad. Who would of thought that when we finally decided to buy a car it would be a 1973 Volkswagen Squareback?
I am fairly certain that people thought we were crazy then.
It didn't matter. I loved that car. Still do.
Flash forward to today.
That cute little yellow car of ours has been driven by Blake to and from work until recently. The other day while driving it died. It now sits in our driveway.
One day we plan on fixing it but right now that just isn't an option. We have 3 kids with one on the way. We are happy...but sad about the car.
We are again a one car family.
I don't really see that changing anytime soon either.
Feel free to think we are crazy....again.

Friday

Yesterday was lovely.
The sun was shining so the kids and I went into the back yard to play and relax.
I mostly laid on the grass to get my dose of sunshine.
The kids played and picked dandy lions. Canon could not leave "Gakcoon" in the house.
I am feeling better.
Most of my sores are healing. They are still there but not as painful, and mostly just itchy now.
The baby is starting to move around a lot more.
The other night I woke up because the baby was moving and thought to myself...
"Oh crap. It is the middle of the night and I am awake. What have we done?"
I feel like I am constantly eating. I am so hungry.
All. The. Time.
We find out if it is a boy or a girl on Wed.
I have not a clue.
Laney and Gavin really want a girl.
Canon wants neither.

Easter

I have a confession.
In the 5 years that Gavin has been alive we have never once colored eggs.
Whew. Glad I got that off my chest.
Blake and I color so many eggs that we don't want to do it again. This year, however, we figured our kids could probably do a good job and not make too big of a mess.
We also figured that they probably didn't remember all those other years. But they are getting old now and would most likely remember.
The only problem....
We didn't do it before Easter.
We colored them on Easter.
We just told the Easter bunny to come back at quiet time. We stayed in our pj's the whole day. Canon even got to color one egg.
He colored it with a crayon and then put it in the dye.
Then just to show the egg who was boss, he smacked it on the table a couple of times. Laney really wanted a pink egg and was moderately devastated to find out we only had red dye. After quiet time the Easter bunny had come.
The rest of us were still in our pajamas.
Laney on the other hand, likes any opportunity to make a fashion statement. There were a few tears which always seem to be the case at our house. Mostly the kids were happy with what they got.
All of the kids got a new bowl for cereal. Gavin got some action figures. Laney got some Littlest Pet shop animals, and Canon got a car that changes color with hot and cold.
That was it.
I think that they were quite pleased with their gifts.
We were quite happy too.
I think we are going to let Santa know to keep it light this year too.
It seems to make our children more agreeable when they don't have too many toys.
Who would have thought?!

Easter Party

This year we had a really fun Easter party. Blake and I have been having these parties for 8 years. I hate to say it but I think we have it perfected. Every year I try and think of some way to incorporate Cadbury Eggs into the center piece. This year I cut out these bunnies and behind them they held the egg.
Thank you Easter bunny. Bok bok.
The only people that had done this before were our friends the Scows. I like to think that they traveled all the way from Vegas to Utah just for our party. (I am sure that they have family here too, but come on.)
The hunt begins.
Canon had no problem figuring out that these eggs were filled with tasty goodness.
I am fairly sure this is his "I'm rocking this" face. Houston we have a problem. The basket has broken.
Don't you fret though. That didn't stop him.
He just developed a new technique.

While some of the "new" people were shy...the Mildons were not.
I won't lie. I was quite impressed with his inventiveness.

Months prior to the party we plan and buy.
This year we blew out 148 real eggs that were filled with prizes.
Some were awesome. Some not so much.
We also had 118 plastic eggs that were filled with candy.
I am still a little uncertain as to how we don't have any pictures of the food, or decorations, or mid party in general.
We did eat pork satays, this, this, and this. After eating we had the annual egg toss.
I don't know a single person that doesn't love a good egg toss.
There is just something fun about chucking eggs.

Because Things Like This Always Happen To Me

Last week was odd.
Laney got a fever. It was consistently at about 103.
We went to the doctor.
She had strep throat.
Of course she did.
I have had a rash that won't go away.
I called the doctor. They said to stop using deodorant and to apply hydrocortisone cream.
Did it. Didn't help.
We drove up to Ogden on Thursday to see Blake's uncle who is a dermatologist.
I have shingles.
Of course I do.
They say that getting shingles is fairly uncommon when you are pregnant.
Of course it is.
Unless you are me.

Happy April

It snowed outside last night. A lot.
Not cool. April. Not cool.
So we will just have to make it feel like Easter inside.
