My Brain Is Moderate Mush

There are quite a few websites that I look at.
I follow a lot of blogs.
When I see something that I like I normally think to myself "I can totally find this again."
Only to realize that I can't for the life of me remember what it was, how I got there, or if I will ever be able to find it again.
I started a while ago saving random pictures on our desktop of things that I like.
My couple pictures turned in to a lot of pictures.
So in order to put some method to the madness I have made a other blog.
One full of all the things I like.

Good Day Sunshine.

check it out.
But only if you like cool stuff.
If not stay here.
Hey wait...we are cool here too.

Easter Finery

What we have here are some fine photography skills.
Via our camera, an automatic timer, and a stool from our kitchen.
The scrunched up face a la Canon.
I will overlook Canon's face and the fact that Laney is pulling her dress back because everyone is looking at the camera. With six people in our family I consider that a win.
Blake and I had to show them how it was done.
Here they are in action.
Lets talk about those looking at the camera first.
Laney-Good smile. Well done.
Gavin-Working really hard on the smile but overall, nice.
Penny-Looking to see why Mom would leave her on the couch with those ruffians we call her siblings.
Canon-Just letting Penny know he is there. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
Almost there.
I obviously am standing off to Blake's left because Canon and Penny have their eyes on me.
Laney thinks this whole process is a real hoot.
Gavin looking to the left. Laney looking at the camera. Penny looking at me. Canon looking at Laney.
At this point we have excepted the fact that the odds are 50% of our kids will look at the camera at any one time.
Or...50% will be looking away.
We consider ourselves a cup half full kind of family.
Unless you are only dealing with two kids then the odds that they will both look at the camera are greater.
Whether or not they give you forced smiles is a whole other box of rocks.
It seems like Laney and Penny have it down.
Slight head tilt. Check.
Smile. Check.
Arm lovingly around sister. Check.
No photo session would be complete though with out a little eye gouging to go around.
That is, after all, Penny's specialty.

Easter Party

This was our 9th year throwing our Easter party.
I think we have it down to an art.

The eggs were colored and numbered.
The centerpieces involving Cadbury Eggs were made.
(you can see other years here and here.)

Games were out.
There was plenty to eat.

The little details were taken care of.

People arrived with their baskets to trade...

and the hunt was on!
It was a full fledged free for all.
There was genuine excitement in the air.
People talked about their baskets and what they got.
They talked about their strategy and if it was a good approach.
(Notice the extra bags for picking up eggs? Brilliant!)
They maintained a tight grip on their haul.
Eggs were thrown. Games were played.
Food was eaten. There was a lot of laughter and some good friendly competition.
At the end of the day...
It was a lot of fun.
Spending time with family and friends
and making some new friends too.

Some Random Thoughts

  • Easter is coming. The goose is getting fat. Please put a penny....wait that isn't right. But, Easter is coming. That also means that the annual Easter party is upon us. I have a one track mind right now. Easter party, Easter party, Easter party. You get me?
  • Penny is 8 months old. Wow. Typing that makes it official. Not that not typing it would make it not official. I think no amount of typing or not typing can slow down her aging process. (I just wanna say, that if typing could slow down someones aging I would be the fastest typer around.)
  • I should be making cupcake toppers right now, but I don't want to and you can't make me.
  • Fingers crossed that it is good weather on Saturday.
  • We haven't planted our garden yet because I learned my lesson from last year and even though I know I need to wait until after Mothers day I am still getting all sorts of antsy pantsy about it.
  • I am on a shopping ban again. So far so good.
  • The next couple of months are gonna be busy busy busy. Blake is going on a weekend hike, I am going on a girls only weekend, we are going to a family reunion, then another family reunion for 2 weeks, and then school will start all over again.
  • I got a spray tan yesterday. I asked the guy that he not make me look like an Oompa Loompa. He said that people say that a lot. I am glad to know that I am not the only one with this concern.
  • I have been kind of a slacker when it comes to my work out routine. I figure once Easter is over I will be back on the wagon or the bike, however you like to phrase it.
  • Anyone have tickets to the gun show? (This picture was taken at my Dad's house when I was there. It is a real gun and I look super tough holding it. (I typed that to convince myself not you.))

Trailer Park Fabulous

Blake was out in the front yard raking the other day and Canon wanted to go out with him and this conversation took place:

Blake: Canon you need to go put on your boots if you wanna go outside.
Me: Canon if you take off your pajamas and go get some clothes I will help you get dressed.

Canon went down stairs took off his pajamas and then came back upstairs ready to go outside.

Me: Canon you can't go outside in your diaper you have to have clothes on.
Canon: I'm wearing my boots.
Me: Bud. It is cold outside you can't be naked. You need to go put some clothes on.
Despair.Devastation.Heartbroken.
Canon: You zip up my wetshirt?
Me: Honey you can't go outside naked.
Canon: I not naked anymore. I wear my wetshirt. See?
Me: Go tell Dad you are not naked...you are wearing your sweatshirt.

Proud.Accomplished.Victory.
What can I say. He posed a very valid argument. He was in fact not naked he was wearing boots, a diaper and a wetshirt.
