Scrub Scrub Scrub

We had some good weather this weekend so Blake decided to wash the car....

With a little help from the kids. Of course washing the car turned into playing in the water.

Canon and I were just innocent bystanders.

This picture is a little messed up...but I love it. It reminds me of what it is like on a sunny day. When you walk outside and your eyes kind of sting from the brightness.

Laney Lou Lou

For going potty in the toilet Laney got to pick out a prize. She picked out a blender.
"Pink bender match my chichen."She is now officially potty trained.
She has also figured out how to get shirts out of her closet by herself.
Can you find her?

Freakish Fears

Last week we went to our friends little girl's party. When we were there we realized that Canon has an unusual fear of balloons. Any time that one got even remotely close to him he would scream.

So yeah...I held a balloon in his face to see if we would get a reaction on video.

I am mean like that.

Food For Thought

So I have been on a no sugar diet for about a month. I finally decided that I had had enough so I indulged in a cupcake. Not just any cupcake, mind you, a Retro Bakery cupcake.

Although I started this in an attempt to see if it would make me shed a couple pounds (it didn't), it really ended up being about, being able to do it. I thought my cousin was crazy when she asked if there was anyone else that wanted to have a "sugar free February" but look at me....Crazing it up. If anyone is wondering....it does not get easier, lots and lots of foods have sugar, it did nothing for my waist line, I may do it again, and the cupcake was good...but not worth it. (Starting back at day one that is.)

What Is Going Down

  • So with all of the kid talk I have neglected to tell what has been going on with the adults in this family....
  • Blake's work just finished on Tuesday. Fun huh?! Not so fun, was the amount of hours that Blake put in just in 3 days. (40. Yeah it was crappy on my end too.) I will let you know when it is going to air if anyone is interested in watching. And, No, Blake most likely won't be on the show. I guess we can all think of him as the "Man behind the curtain."Starting this last Monday Blake took a 20% pay cut at work. Also crappy on my end. I like to refer to his pay cut and the time until it goes back to normal as "The Great Depression."So with a few lemons right now.... So as not to end on a negative note here are some really cool things that have went down recently:
  • With the "Great Depression" Blake will now have Friday, Saturday, and Sundays off.
  • We recently got a call saying that another TV show would like to buy our movie. (Who knew that something like that could happen twice?)
  • I am the best wife around and let Blake get one of these (not to be confused with this one):
  • My friend Cathy had a sweet baby girl yesterday and I got to go visit. Ari is going to love me...she just doesn't know it yet.

The Snack That Smiles Back

The other day while eating some goldfish crackers for a snack Gavin had the following conversation with the goldfish:
Gavin: "Come here...I am going to eat you." (Gavin takes a bite off the back)
Fish: "Ahhhh! I can't swim."
(Gavin eats all of the fish and then picks up another one. Then he bites off the front.)
Fish 2: "Help! I can't see. I don't know where I am going."
He may look like a nice little kid but that Goldfish didn't stand a chance.

This Is For You....

Are you one of those people that drive by an accident and slow down in hopes of seeing some blood, guts or even a body? Or maybe you are someone that sees something nasty and looks away but then has to look again just to make sure it is still nasty. Or perhaps you are just one of those people that likes to see how sucky it is to be someone else. If you are any of those "someones" click away....don't worry I won't judge...to much.

Sir Thopham Hat Can Suck It Back To Sodor

A while ago we went to a story time at an outdoor mall here. Actually we went there to listen to Sir Topham Hat read...that lasted all of 5 minutes. There is nothing quite like driving 20 minutes one direction so that your little kid can see a character from the movies that he likes only to get there on time and have Sir Topham Hat already half way through a book. Yeah, I won't do that again. So since the story time was a bust we decided to do other fun things... Like play in this child size Labyrinth.

Ooops

Today while opening a can I tried to maim myself. I ended up with a pretty nice cut that goes from the top of my thumb to my first knuckle. My mom advised that I should go and have stitches. Blake and I just decided to use some steri-strips and see if it will heal on its own. (Not that I don't value my Mom's opinion. Stitches just did not sound very fun to me.) They say that our opposable thumbs are the only thing that separates us from other animals.
If that is the case....Woof.

If Only I Had Grown Up In The 80's

This is Laney after a nap.
Grandpa says that his hair beats out Laney's hair in the morning.

In your dreams Grandpa!

Giddy As A School Girl

Here is a video of what I got Blake for his birthday.

This one is funny because Blake didn't realize that we were taking a video. He thought that we were taking pictures. Look at that man pose.

Move Over Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey

Blake and I have the same birthday month. Since we were both turning the big 3-0 this year we decided to throw our own party.

We like to throw parties...but we also like to torture our friends for fun, so we made them dress up. They were required to wear at least one item of "Circus wear." They went all out on dressing up! (We have cool friends.)

Somehow with all of the planning that went into the party we neglected to charge the battery for our camera so we missed pictures of these guys, and these guys.

Our very own Circus tent.

We had lots of games....Ring toss, Duck raffle, Whirl Ball, and Darts. We also had a rousing game of "Musical Mustache."

Everyone got to grub down on "Circus" food complete with hotdogs, peanuts, cracker jacks, and cotton candy. We also had yummy cupcakes from the Retro Bakery. Mmmm.

Unfortunately kids weren't invited to the party but we did have a couple of babies along for the ride.

And of course we like to torture them with costumes too.

Kicking It Since '02

Blake and I have been married for 7 years.
He gets me. When someone says the word "package" in a sentence Blake will giggle too. If Laney says the word shirt, you know that we will both be snickering a little. And if for some reason you say the word "do" and it is followed directly by another "do," one of us is sure to point it out...

That is why I love him. Or at least one of the reasons.

Who Knew Happy Meals Could Be So Fun?

We went to McDonald's the other day and got the kids happy meals. Like all kids they love to get the toy on the inside. Blake was looking at what Gavin's toy was and Gavin says: "Dad, don't touch my package. You can play with your own package if you want."

I laughed so hard I cried. (I may have also snorted a little.)

If I Were An Octopus I Would Wrap My Tentacles Around You And Squeeze.

Coming off of a birthday where I just turned 30, you would think that I'd feel old. I don't. Thank goodness. You would think that being 30 and having three kids would do me in. It hasn't. And if one could venture a guess you would think that getting a new drivers license where they tell me I can't have my middle name and where I look a pretty shade of Donatella Versace/Oompa Loompas would make me creep a little closer to the edge....Well, you would be right.

Now skip forward to this last Tuesday.

I am an activity day leader in our ward. As we (the girls, the other leader, and I) were standing around a table I had my back to the door. A lady in our ward walks in and asks the other leader if she would like any help. She then proceeds to gasp a little and say

"Oh. You already have some help. Oh, Sister Unguren I am so sorry, I thought you were one of the girls. (Babbling now because I think she is embarrassed) I think it is because of your hair color...."

Hey I take no offense. If you want to compare me to tween/pretween girls I am OK with that. More than OK. It kinda makes me want to hug you.

Hananuka Day 6

So today I am officially 30, flirty, and thriving.
(If you have seen 13 going on 30. That will sound familiar.)
Some days are to be remembered.
Others on the contrary,
However, today is the day,
You'll call legen'... Wait for it ...'dary!

This day of legends began,
The instant the clock chimed midnight,
Because today is the day of your birth,
Which purely is heaven's delight.

So let's celebrate with all of our vigor,
And eat with a voracious heart,
By the end of the night we won't know,
Any difference 'tween the end and the start.

So hazzah to the birthday girl,
But we'll keep that between you and me,
Because I know you'll walk out of that restaurant
If I let it slip to the maitre d. "He went to Jared."
Just kidding...but Blake did buy me this fabulous ring. I love it!!
Even though you can't really tell it is a really light green quartz with three little diamonds on each side.
I heart my new ring.
