Rainbow Connection Powered By Duracell

Gavin: "I see the rainbow."
Laney: "Jesus turned it on."
Gavin: "Oh no! Where is it going?"
Laney: "He turned it off."
Gavin: "Yeah the batteries are dead so he turned it off so he could charge them."
Laney: "Yes. He needs to charge them."

Tuesday Toilet Musings

We went to the "new house" to do some cleaning prior to moving in.
As I was scrubbing the shower, that had an obscene amount of soap scum in it, I had some deep thoughts. Why oh why would anyone think that blue toilet water is a good idea? I understand that putting a tablet in the toilet is good for helping it stay clean. I don't understand the blue. It makes it so that you can't really see if the toilet is clean, leading me to believe it is not. If you cleaned it regularly would you really need a blue tablet to prove it? Furthermore when you pee in a blue toilet it makes the water turn green. I am sorry but in no place is green pee good. I would also like to pose the question, "Are we on an airplane or living in the 80's?" If you were the previous tenants and are in fact "living in the 80's" than I am sorry. Not only for your need to put teal blue in places that they don't belong but also for the fact that you most likely have 80's hair and probably have hammer pants in many colors. Which makes me want to bust out in "Can't touch this."
You know that you are singing it too.
Oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh can't touch this. Music hits me so hard....

We Like To Rub Happy In Your Face

Our trip to Disneyland was great. It was a much needed vacation and we got to spend time with our family. We went a week before Laney's birthday so she was under the impression this was her birthday party. (I know...best parents ever.)They decorate it so cute for Halloween. I want to figure out a way to make my own candy corn. The wheels are already turning.
Laney spent the majority of the time like this. She loves Grandpa. I am pretty sure the feeling is mutual. We did a lot of pin trading.
"We are the Grasshoppers where's our food?" Who knew that bug glasses could be so fashionable? All the cousins. They may not all be looking at the camera but they are all together. Believe me when I say that Gavin and Laney had the best time with Porter, Tyler and Blake. Even though you can't tell from this picture Laney was giddy as a school girl to be able to see one of the princesses. Gavin was pretty thrilled too.

The Big 3

Laney came into this world with an opinion. She has an opinion about what she wears, how her hair is done, what she eats, how she eats it, how her blankets are placed on her at night, how the day should go, how we should do certain things, what toys belong to her and what ones other people should or should not be playing with, how much water she should get to have before bed and what order people should use the bathroom at night. Sometimes this little girl makes me crazy. But I will tell you something, all her personality makes her that much more entertaining to live with. For her birthday cereal she choose Honey Comb. She also requested pink cupcakes with sprinkles. Check and check.Everyone enjoyed them.

For a little after birthday celebration we went to go get pumpkins from the pumpkin patch.

Blob

I can't get myself to do a post. I have lots of stuff to talk about and no motivation to do it.

Laney's birthday was today...more of that later.

In other news we are going to be moving in to this house soon.

See. I have all sorts of things to talk about and no energy to do it.

Actually I guess this post means I have a little energy.

More tomorrow.

I am going to drink some caffeine.

Did I Forget

to tell you we went to the Utah State Fair? Our attempts at a semi family photo were in vain. Gavin was winking at the camera and then he had his "picture" smile. Laney wasn't interested at all. They enjoyed the free farm exhibit. They also liked looking at all of the arts and crafts that people had done.
The cows behind them were made out of butter.
(I think that may be my mom's butter dream come true.)

They got to ride on a big slide. I didn't get a picture of that.

I got a rocking new vegetable peeler.

It was a short visit but it was fun.

The Fair is expensive.

Sometimes Birthdays Hurt

It's A Big Day!

Our little boy was born a year ago today. When he came out he had a head of dark hair.
He has developed his own personality. He is tough, he is a boy, his brown eyes melt my heart.
Oh, I love him so. He is not very open with his kisses but I just work harder for them. He also thinks it is quite funny, as of late, to go in for a kiss and then head butt you. He does it on purpose...every time.
We all love him. How could you not?!

Ode To Tomatoes

Blake and I are on the look out for a place to move. The pickins seem to be pretty slim. Actually I take that back. If we had a lot of money to spend on rent we would be good to go. But since we don't want to eat Top Ramen for the next three years we may have to expand our horizons. I don't care how desperate I get. I can not live with counter tops that look like I just murdered someone. I may be a snob about this but when I am cutting up meat I like to know where the meat ends and the counter tops begins.
I miss our house.

Cashing In

Gavin swallowed a penny on Sunday night.
He now knows how the penny is going to get out of his tummy.
I told Gavin to be on the look out.
It kinda makes you think twice about putting money in your mouth.
They say money is dirty...
but this is a whole other level of dirty.

If Being Boastful Was Against The Law I Would Be Going To Jail Right Now Wearing A Very Stylish Jumpsuit

There is a blog I look at called What can I say? I love Anthropologie. Their clothes are lovely. I wish that I had lots and lots of money to buy them all (well not all, but a large majority). I spend a good amount of time on their web site looking at clothes and putting them in my shopping basket. Spending virtual money doesn't really count and it lets me watch the clothes until they go on sale and are a little bit more in my price range.
Now down to the nitty gritty. The blog that I read was having a contest. I guess not a contest but more like a raffle. You could donate money in $5 increments up to $25. For every $5 you donated you would get a entry to win the money. On the last day of the raffle I decided that I most likely wouldn't miss $5 but anything over that I would probably feel some loss. So I entered knowing full well that Blake would think I was crazy. But...guess who won?
Me!
I Won!
$350 gift card to Anthropologie!!
from only $5!
Feel free to be jealous.

I See Some Potential

In preschool Gavin did a life sized outline of his body. That is a face only a mother could love.
When we asked him what the orange coloring on the left side of his face was he informed us that it was his neck bumps.
It now hangs on the wall as art.

Tinkerbell

For Laney's birthday we are going to Disneyland.
I made her a tinkerbell costume to wear when we go.
For my first sewing venture using a pattern I think it turned out good.

She has got some crazy hair in these pictures but don't pay attention to that just look at the dress...

Thursday.

Gavin started preschool yesterday. At dinner he was doing a lot of "A-A-A-Apple. T-T-T-Table." Then he said "B says B-B-B-Banished." Huh?The other morning Laney woke up crying and was all wet. When Blake asked her if she had wet the bed Laney said "No. I was thirsty and Grandma Dana got me a drink of water and poured it on my bed." Let the wetting the bed dreams begin.
I watched my sister Sarah's little girl for the past two days. Canon has this awesome tan colored skin and Addi looks like my other two kids. I just couldn't resist a picture of their little naked bodies next to each other.

Randmon Things From This Week

  • I bought my first pair of skinny jeans. Though I know that this has been the style for a while now, I was a hard convert. I love the way boot cut jeans sit nicely over my shoes. I have fairly small feet and am not a fan when they look big. Do you remember in the late 90's when it was all the rage to have tapered pants and guys and girls alike would wear Dr. Martins? There was one guy in particular that I remember from high school that would wear such pants and shoes and I remember thinking "Man...those pants and shoes make his feet look huge." Some men would love such a thought but it was ingrained in my mind how freakish it looked. He had average sized legs and then these ginormous feet. Like a duck...his legs reminded me of a duck. Skinny skinny legs and big ole paddley feet that for sure could propel him threw the water at amazing speeds but with Dr. Martins that weighed 90 lbs. it may have sunk him right to the bottom even with those paddle feet. So even with that image in my head I still went and purchased some skinny jeans. Long story short...kinda...I love them. I think I have worn them just about every day for a week.

  • Canon has figured out how to climb the stairs. Normally we have the stairs block aided by some square ottomans that we have. The other day while I was putting away groceries down stairs Canon was down stairs with me and he started to climb. With his siblings around cheering him on I warned them not to get to close to him. They can get a wee bit overexcited and I didn't want them to knock an already unsteady climber. I suppose it shouldn't have surprised me much when I heard the "thump, thump, thump, Waaaa, thump, thump, thump, WAAAAA!" I go running to the bottom of the stairs to scoop Canon up and while I am trying to sooth him I ask what happened. Laney then informs me "I pushed him down the stairs." We had a little heart to heart after that. I don't think she will push he brother down the stairs again.
  • This is the view from our back porch. The park is right there and the kids are able to go and play at the park quite frequently. When they go to the park I normally just sit out on the patio and watch. This makes it so I am not sitting in the sun bored out of my mind watching them go down the slides but it also makes it so that Canon doesn't ingest too many wood chips (which he loves by the way).
  • Our back porch has some nasty house guests that I am not a fan of. They think they can set up camp and buzz around like it is no problem. I would like to say this is my formal warning. Buzz off bugs or you may not live to see that hive you are making completed.

That Chocolate Chip Cookie Didn't Stand A Chance

Did you ever see the movie Pete's Dragon? Canon looks like he could be one of the Gogans.
