It's All Relative

Sometimes you see people and they remind you of people you know.
This is my sister in law Meghann on the right.
(Meg: I got this picture off of your blog...hope you don't mind.)Doesn't she look like this girl on the right. Sure, she is black and a contestant on the Amazing Race...but similar, no?I don't watch American Idol but I have been told, and Blake too for that matter, that he looks like this guy. I might be biased but I think Blake is so much cuter.
Maybe one day I will meet my famous twin....I have been told I look like this person but I think that is still up in the air.
An amendment:
My sister in law Meghann informed me that I look like this person...

Here is a picture for reference sake:

It's Like An Orange On A Toothpick.

These days Canon is his own little person. He likes to be in the same room as Laney and Gavin. They think he is "playing" with them but mostly he just rolls around, scoots, and sucks on things. Laney is constantly asking if she can hold Canon. On occasion I will help her and then most of the time Canon knocks her down. He is getting big, and Laney...not so much. If you don't believe me check out Canon's head in comparison to Laney's.But the real question is why would you not want to hold him? He is very lovable.
But Laney is strong (or strong willed. Take your pick)...and evidently has some super human skills.
Off to save the day!

You Can Say That Again.

Today Blake and I were discussing how our kids are just a running commentary of what is going on. They talk non stop. I kid you not. This morning Gavin and Laney had this conversation after Gavin had gone to get a pen from the book Grandma Miller had given them.
G: Laney, your book doesn't have a pen in it.
L: What?
G: Laney, your book doesn't have a pen in it.
L: What?
G: Laney, your book doesn't have a pen in it.
L: What?
G: Laney, your book doesn't have a pen in it.
L: What?
G: Laney, your book doesn't have a pen in it.
L: What?
G: Laney, your book doesn't have a pen in it.
L: What?
G: Laney, your book doesn't have a pen in it.
L: What?

Yep. Gavin said the same thing 7 times in a row. I counted.

I Would Not Advise A Visit

All the kids are sick. It started with Canon (strange...this is the first time he has been sick in 7 mo. We had a good run.), spread to Laney and now it is on to Gavin. It is like we are living inside a giant petree dish. Germs just multiplying before our eyes. There is no stopping it. It is like our own personal version of the movie "Outbreak" except that there is no monkey...and no biting (unless you get Laney really riled up).

Super Domesticated

They're here. Teeth are in. He is eating solids now. So, because of the great depression I decided to make baby food.
Carrots, yams, beans, spinach, beets, and butternut squash are all packaged and in the freezer ready for him to eat.
Look at me "Holly Homemaker"-ing it up.
Beets are freaky looking.
That is all.

Princess 101

I wore this headband to church on Sunday. Gavin asked if Snow White wears a ponytail. He then informed me that "Snow White wears a headband just like mine with a bow, but Snow Whites is red." At least I have moved up on the Disney Character totem pole. Man....Our little boy loves princesses. A lot.
Just so you know. Operation G.I. Joe didn't work.

Easter

We had a good Easter. The annual Easter party was fabulous. We had friends and family over for the hunt. There were baskets and treats for everyone. Some treats were even found on the ground. But...it doesn't make them any less tasty does it?We had games like "guess how many peeps are in the jar."
Aptly named "The Peep Show."
We ate yummy food and had cupcakes.

I really like Easter.

I Know What Bunnies Like

Today while having breakfast Gavin and I were discussing Easter. Since this is the first year that they get what is happening it has made for some interesting conversations.

Me: On Saturday night we are going to put out a carrot for the Easter Bunny.
Gavin: Why?
Me: I think he will need a snack. Bunnies like carrots.
Gavin: I think that they like strawberries.
Me: No. They just like carrots.
Gavin: I think they like licorice. It's good.
Me: Licorice is good. But I don't think that bunnies like it.
Gavin: Yeah they do. Licorice that tastes like strawberries.
Me: I don't think so.
Gavin: Well we will just have to put it out and see.
Me: OK.
Gavin: We might have to get it out today. Do you know when the bunny comes?
Me: Yep. He comes on Saturday night.
Gavin: We are just going to have to look at Laney's watch and see how long it will be. I think he is coming tonight.

I am not really sure why I bother to disagree with him...he never believes me.

It's A Good Place To Relax

Gavin starts T-ball tomorrow. So, tonight we went to Target to buy him a glove for his practice. As we were looking at gloves Gavin points to the cups and says "I wanna buy some of those bathtubs."

April Fools

I got nothing.
I am not a big one on practical jokes. I don't really like to lie to people, have them believe me, and then come back with a "ha, ha, April fools." Not fun for me and most likely not for the person on the receiving end that was under the impression that they were going to have to run to the hospital because I accidentally swallowed a mouse, while sewing...oh and p.s. I'm pregnant. Do you see why this is not a good holiday? Now you are all just wondering if I put in that pregnant thing as a joke. Or maybe there is some truth to that statement? But you don't want to look stupid asking. But you got to know. Oh April, you smug smug month with all of your tom foolery.

Scrub Scrub Scrub

We had some good weather this weekend so Blake decided to wash the car....

With a little help from the kids. Of course washing the car turned into playing in the water.

Canon and I were just innocent bystanders.

This picture is a little messed up...but I love it. It reminds me of what it is like on a sunny day. When you walk outside and your eyes kind of sting from the brightness.

Laney Lou Lou

For going potty in the toilet Laney got to pick out a prize. She picked out a blender.
"Pink bender match my chichen."She is now officially potty trained.
She has also figured out how to get shirts out of her closet by herself.
Can you find her?

Freakish Fears

Last week we went to our friends little girl's party. When we were there we realized that Canon has an unusual fear of balloons. Any time that one got even remotely close to him he would scream.

So yeah...I held a balloon in his face to see if we would get a reaction on video.

I am mean like that.

Food For Thought

So I have been on a no sugar diet for about a month. I finally decided that I had had enough so I indulged in a cupcake. Not just any cupcake, mind you, a Retro Bakery cupcake.

Although I started this in an attempt to see if it would make me shed a couple pounds (it didn't), it really ended up being about, being able to do it. I thought my cousin was crazy when she asked if there was anyone else that wanted to have a "sugar free February" but look at me....Crazing it up. If anyone is wondering....it does not get easier, lots and lots of foods have sugar, it did nothing for my waist line, I may do it again, and the cupcake was good...but not worth it. (Starting back at day one that is.)

Wish Us Luck

We are attempting to potty train Laney.

What Is Going Down

  • So with all of the kid talk I have neglected to tell what has been going on with the adults in this family....
  • Blake's work just finished on Tuesday. Fun huh?! Not so fun, was the amount of hours that Blake put in just in 3 days. (40. Yeah it was crappy on my end too.) I will let you know when it is going to air if anyone is interested in watching. And, No, Blake most likely won't be on the show. I guess we can all think of him as the "Man behind the curtain."Starting this last Monday Blake took a 20% pay cut at work. Also crappy on my end. I like to refer to his pay cut and the time until it goes back to normal as "The Great Depression."So with a few lemons right now.... So as not to end on a negative note here are some really cool things that have went down recently:
  • With the "Great Depression" Blake will now have Friday, Saturday, and Sundays off.
  • We recently got a call saying that another TV show would like to buy our movie. (Who knew that something like that could happen twice?)
  • I am the best wife around and let Blake get one of these (not to be confused with this one):
  • My friend Cathy had a sweet baby girl yesterday and I got to go visit. Ari is going to love me...she just doesn't know it yet.

The Snack That Smiles Back

The other day while eating some goldfish crackers for a snack Gavin had the following conversation with the goldfish:
Gavin: "Come here...I am going to eat you." (Gavin takes a bite off the back)
Fish: "Ahhhh! I can't swim."
(Gavin eats all of the fish and then picks up another one. Then he bites off the front.)
Fish 2: "Help! I can't see. I don't know where I am going."
He may look like a nice little kid but that Goldfish didn't stand a chance.
