The Christmas Spirit

We got this Rudolph a few years ago as a present from my Grandma Jones.
The kids have loved it.
Canon has adopted it as his.
He will squeal at you if you even try to touch it. He likes to give Rudolph loves. He carries him all over the house.

I think I am just glad we don't have any pets.

Canon's love could kill something.

"Hey everybody! Did you know we made a gingerbread house?""I don't really know why Gavin is so bummed. This house is rocking."
"Gavin, you are kinda being a downer on this picture taking situation." "Oh well. Forget about him...this is my time to shine." "Mom. Canon climbed up on the table and is eating the house.""Caught red...er...green handed"

On The Move

While I do realize this is late and the Grandparents may not forgive me...it has happened none the less. We have a walker.

I may be crazy but I think he just looks too little to be walking.

I may not be the best mom by letting my child that has just learned to walk walk around with a toothbrush in his mouth. It kinda goes hand in hand with the "don't run with scissors."

Hungry?

Today for snacks the kids and I ate some tzatziki and pita chips. I could wax strong on my love of tzatziki but I will spare you all. I originally bought it for a recipe but I am not sure it is going to last that long. I am a big fan of cooking dinner and while I am not the most experienced cook I think I can hold my own. I try to make new things and have our kids try them which doesn't always seem to work. Actually just last night Gavin had complete melt down and started bawling uncontrollably because I wanted him to take a bite...a bite, of cauliflower. You would have thought I cut off his arm and was trying to feed it to him. Although "boiled boy arm" does have a ring to it.
Anyhow...
to the point....
Boiled hot dogs is up and running again.

Good, easy food.

Some Things I Thought I Would Never Hear Over The Pulpit

  1. Use of the word "Bastard" (used in the literal sense. When refering to her son.)
  2. Use of the word "Boob" (not in reference to an actual boob, but to being a boob.)

When I heard these words both have made me giggle in a very non reverent way.

Gavin has nose issues.
Breathe Right Strips for kids seems to do the trick.

Bird Of A Different Color

When my mom was here a couple weeks ago we made some crocheted flowers so that we could make them into clips for Laney's hair. My mom and sister were joking that I most likely would be seen wearing the flowers later on a shirt. (I won't lie...I think they would make a cute cluster on a shirt or on a headband.)
Anywho...
When my Dad was here for Thanksgiving I was again informed that I am a strange dresser. My Dad actually said something a long the lines of "You have dressed like this for so long that I don't even notice it anymore." My sister Sarah informed me that my Bird sweater was ugly.
I would just like to point out that my idea for a crochet headband isn't all that far off.
I guess I figured that I was a normal dresser with a twist. When I first moved to Utah (the first time) I was told "You dress strange." Not really knowing how to answer I just stood there. In an attempt to make me feel better I think she finished it up with "Well...you can just tell that you are not from here." Uh. Ok. If weirdness prevails and I am sure it will, I will one day own this pant suit.
(My sister says that is weird too.)
But I love the way the outfit looks. I own these shoes they are different and I heart them. A lot.

There Was A Man That Was Killing His Neighbors Trees, And Now I Know Why.

The trees are pretty in Utah. We didn't really have trees in Vegas. We had a palm tree but that is nothing in comparison. One of the things that we liked about this house was the big tree in the front yard. We came to find out it is a horse chestnut tree. Lovely. Cleaning up the leaves and chestnuts out of the grass...not so much. When it was all said and done we had 20+ bags. We paid the kids a penny a chestnut to pick up the nuts out of the grass. With their money Gavin got a batman toy and Laney got a barbie.

Another funny thing about our house is the dishwasher. It hooks up to the kitchen sink. It doesn't bother us too much. We are just glad that we don't have to wash dishes by hand.

Shame On You Pottery Barn

I don't know what it is? Perhaps Blake and I are crude and think strange things are funny. Such as...
The other day we were in Pottery Barn Kids with the kids. I was looking around while the kids played with a doll house and Blake watched them. When I can back to where they were Blake says
"Uh. So...uh, what is with the anatomically correct doll?"
I laughed. I cried. I took a picture. And then I laughed some more.

And There You Have It

Since moving into our new house Canon hasn't been able to sneek cereal out of the cupboard.

Some other points of interest:

I got strep throat. Again.
Canon went to a ears, nose and throat specialist. They are going to put tubes in his ears.
Almost all of our stuff is put away.
We got new callings in our ward. We are teaching the 12 & 13 year olds.
We are giving talks this Sunday.

The Wait Is Over

Happy Halloween!

I loved our Halloween costumes this year. I made mine, part of Blake's and Canon's. When my mom was here she helped me figure out what to do with the Grimus face. She also pretty much revamped the pattern on my Ronald costume.

I am quite proud of our McDonalds family.

Back Tracking

When we were in California we went to the Long Beach aquarium. I had strep throat so I wasn't feeling so hot. I also had just lost my cell phone the day before so I was bummed and not looking forward to spending money on a new phone. Going to the aquarium, for me, did not sound like a super fun time. But in the end, we had a really good time. Canon spent most of the time at the aquarium climbing stairs. He didn't really care about the fish. But let me tell you cement stairs were the "it".

It was a good day.

Things That Happened This Last Week:

  • Blake left for a week to go to California for FEMA training.
  • My Mom came to help. I was quite the slave driver while she was here.
  • We have moved most of our stuff to the new house. We also repainted some rooms and cleaned.
  • We had rocking costumes for Halloween. At this point you are just going to have to believe me because Blake packed our camera cord away and we don't know where it is.

Things that we are doing this week:

  • Finish packing up our stuff and move in.
  • Try to catch up on blogging...maybe.
  • Take Canon to the doctor. This is his 4th ruptured ear drum.
  • Try to have some kind of semblance of normalcy at our house.

on a side note: I lost my cell phone while at Disneyland. I have lost every ones phone numbers. So if I should have your number please email it to me or I will never be able to call you again. Sad for you, I know. Oh, I got a new phone and it is still the same number.

My email is hunguren(@)hotmail(dot)com.
