Pictures Galore

Our Day started on the pier at Newport Beach. We walked to the end and went to a restaurant called Ruby's. While we were waiting for our table to be ready the kids watched the people fish off of the pier. They also enjoyed watching the planes pulling banners. Then we went down to the beach. Everything is fun and games until the kids get dirty. And they got dirty! Yes, he is eating a dirt covered Funyuns. Appetizing No?
(On the way off the beach as we were leaving Laney decided to throw a tantrum by throwing her self face down on the beach. I have never seen a little girls face more dirty. She got sand in her eyes, nose and mouth. Blake and I both chuckled and said "perhaps she won't be throwing any more tantrums like that.") We tried some preventative maintenance to keep the kids clean with the occasional Ocean dip and it worked for Laney. She loved the Ocean. Gavin on the other hand wanted nothing to do with it. He actually started to cry if we even suggested it.

By the end our kids were exhausted. Laney fell asleep on my shoulder which is something that she NEVER does. We went back to the hotel took a bath and then back out we went for dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Gavin and Laney both got balloons from the restaurant and were super pleased.

However, Laney lost her balloon and it was devastating. The look on her face....sad.

When we were all done we packed the kids in the car and headed back to the hotel. This time Laney ended up sleeping on the floor.

All in all I would say it was a great little trip.

Laney's Rendition of "Dark Blue"

We bring you a little music interlude by Laney. We are sorry to postpone the rest of the California trip pictures however due to unforeseen Blogger problems we have no other choice. Enjoy.

We would like to point out that this IS the same song Gavin sang here. If you want to listen to the real thing here is a link.

One more thing of interest to note. Gavin in an attempt to escape after bath time goes streaking through the video.

Our Trip

Let me preface this post with some news from here. Here in Vegas things are slow, business wise. They have had numerous layoffs at Blake's work. We have managed to dodge the bullets so far. This last layoff was especially disturbing being that there is not that many people left. So now it is a waiting game to see if they do another layoff. With all of that going on we decided to take a break from reality and go to California, Long Beach to be exact.

We rented a car and drove to the hotel. Put on our swimsuits and went for a dip. The kids were so excited about their floaties. (Gavin was also excited about the car we "borrowed.") We thought for sure that Laney would love the pool...nope, not so much. Gavin on the other hand was jumping off the side and going under water. After wearing themselves out by swimming, jumping on the bed and inspecting every nook and cranny of the hotel room it was bedtime. It started out good and then went from fun to just down right noisy. Gavin had to get transplanted to the floor so that they would go to sleep. Goodnight finally.

Yep.

For the last week I have sounded similar to this (but I did not look this cute)
For the Fourth of July we went here

We went to the beach and now I look like this(hopefully cuter)
With the coughing and the sunburn I pretty much feel like this

(it looks like crap...if you can't tell.)

THE END.

Full Blown Obsession

Gavin loves Thomas the Train. His most recent love is the battery powered ones. In an effort to make this easy to understand these are some things that Gavin knows about the trains.

  1. He knows all of their names (even the ones that he does not have.)
  2. He knows what kind of batteries they take. (even if he does not have them)
  3. He knows whether or not you unscrew them to put in their batteries or if the tops "pop" off. (once again, even the ones he does not have.)
  4. He has a running list of the ones he wants and the people who are going to buy them for him. (you know who you are.)
  5. He knows what trains are in what movies.
  6. He knows when he goes to Cathy's house he will most likely be watching one of the movies.
  7. He will ask to wear a certain color of shirt so that he can match what ever train is his "favorite" for the day.
  8. Some of the trains have tenders (that is the second car) that is where the batteries are kept. Gavin knows which way the batteries go and whose tender top is whose even though they look EXACTLY the same.
  9. Gavin knows by their sound what train it is. Case in point: Today Gavin put three trains up on the couch and Laney was playing with one. While he went into the bathroom to go potty Laney started to play with one of the trains on the couch, turning it on. Gavin yells from the bathroom "I don't want Laney to play with Arthur." Yep, he was right.

Kriss Kross Will Make You Jump Jump.

On Sunday we showed up to church and Blake says "Obviously no one was paying attention when Gavin got dressed this morning because his pants are on backwards."

(kinda reminds you of these guys huh?)
So Blake takes Gavin into the bathroom to change his pants around so that people don't think we were the most neglectful parents in the world. When Blake walks into the chapel he asks for our bag. When I asked him why he says, "Gavin was also wearing two pairs of underwear. I have them in my other hand." I guess the joke was on us because as Blake is removing extra underwear and turning pants around Gavin says, "that is pretty funny huh, dad?"

Too Much Information

The other day while I was going to the doctor Gavin and Laney went to my friend Lindsey's house. As they were eating lunch Gavin informed Lindsey that
"The Baby does not eat cereal."
"That's right." said Lindsey
"They baby is only going to drink milk from my Mom's boobs."

Thanks Gavin for clearing that one up.

All Sorts of Baby

So here is the run down for everything baby thus far:
  • Baby is due October 5. However the tentative date for him to come is September 24. (I have a c-section. That is how I have a date.)
  • That makes me 26 weeks.
  • The baby is a boy and I am pretty sure that we have a name. However, it is subject to change.
  • I have gained 16lbs. already. Sad.
  • The baby is busy and moving around. Everything looks good on the ultra sounds. He is actually measuring the perfect size which my doctor has said that he has never seen before. We are hoping he is a perfect baby too...one can hope right.

  • This last month I have been really tired. I kept thinking that maybe the baby is just having a growth spurt but my doctor is checking to see if I am anemic or if there is a problem with my thyroid. (I'll let you all know.) I keep telling Blake that this last month that "the baby is kicking my trash."
  • We are pretty sure that he will look like one of these guys:

That way people can ask us if we have triplets.

Well That's A First

Gavin is 3 1/2 years old and Laney is 1 1/2. Up until Saturday we had made it that long with out someone pooping in the bath. Lets just say, I can't say that anymore.

Ode to Target

Today while at our local Target as we were perusing the clothing. We found a skirt with elastic that is Not maternity. Holla! We also ran into this person For those of you who don't know who this is she was on the show Big Brother 8. You may recognize her more from this picture because this is what she looked like most of the time.
We talked to her for a minute. It was, well, interesting.

Hemophobia

The other day while playing with some magazines Gavin got a paper cut. Gavin has a problem with blood. When he saw that his finger was bleeding he started to cry and then started to shake. I am not talking about just some normal crying I am talking about "inconsolable, I just got my arm lopped off" crying. He ended up babying his hand all night.
This morning we wake up and all is well we go down for breakfast and start eating and about half way through his bowl of cereal he starts to whimper. So I ask him what is the matter and he proceeds to tell me that his hand is hurt and that he can't finish his cereal.
It obviously is that bad.

Happy Father's Day

Today we woke up early to get ready for church. When it was time to wake Blake up Gavin came running into the room. This is what he said:
"Dad, Happy Fathers Day. We got you a shaver."
Me: Gavin you are not suppose to tell him what we got it is suppose to be a surprise.
Gavin: "Oh. Dad we got you a surprise. It's a tie."
Blake: "Uh, thanks Gavin."
Gavin: "Your welcome."
What did we get him? A shaver (like "Grandpa's shaver") and a tie.
Even though he spoiled the surprise...how can you be mad at this face?

Dentist Again

Today I went to the dentist

for a filling. They gave me a shot of Novocain.

Not to bad but not numb so they gave me another.
When they did this I got all jittery and felt like I had had one of these.
This made me feel sick. As I am shaking and breaking out in a sweat I start to cry. I also say to the dentist, "I think I am going to throw up." Yep, I officially had a little melt down at the dentist. The rest went quite uneventfully, and I came out with one of these.
I figure that my dentist appointment is just preparing me for the glucose test that I have to take next week. I will drink this
and feel like I had a whole lot of this.

Doctor 101

I would just like to preface this post with
MY PICTURES WON'T UPLOAD.

Our kids hate the doctor. Not that I can blame them. Who likes to go anyplace that makes you get naked, weighs you, checks how big you head is and then proceeds to give you shots? (Gavin refers to shots as "pencils.") And in Laney's case they tell you that you are under weight and may need to get more shots to make sure nothing is wrong.

So Laney being the cute little thing that she is weighs 20lbs. and is 31 inches long. They told me that for her age (19mo.) she is in the under 20% for weight.

Being at the doctor stressed out Laney so much that she broke out in hives on her stomach. I guess there is no better place to have some random break out of hives than at the doctor's office. (And no better way to make a mother feel like a complete idiot as I say "she did not have those when I got her dressed this morning," and "I am pretty sure they are not bug bites...they just showed up.")

Wicked Style

You just can't stop this girl. Even if that means that she is putting on Gavin's underware inside out and backwards.

Today

Today I cleaned 1 kitchen, 1 kitchen floor, 3 bathroom floors, 3 bathrooms, 1 bedroom, dusted a living room, family room and bedroom and cleaned and mopped 1 laundry room.
All done while lugging around this.... Hello Baby! We are now over half way there.
