I Made A Pillow

I saw a picture of a pillow like this and thought "I can totally make that."
So I did.
Then I thought "I am going to take a nice picture of it. How about on the green bench?"
"Canon. Mom is trying to take a picture."
"Cheese."
"Cheeeese."
Alright maybe I will move it to the couch. It might look nicer there.
(Getting all centered....)
"Canon....seriously?!" "Mom is trying to take a picture of the couch."
"Cheese."
"Come here...Mom is going to give you a candy." Mission accomplished.

Now You See Me. Now You Dont.

On that last post I just kinda left you hanging there didn't I?
I needed a break.
Life has been a little strange here lately. I have gotten sick (colds, stomach flu, weird rash...) a lot while pregnant with this baby and I just haven't felt like myself.
The weather here in Utah is bipolar. Sun shining one day and snowing the next. I am sure that hasn't helped the state of things.
I realized the other day that in the 8 years that Blake and I have been married we have moved 7 times.
I am sure that is not helping the state of things either.
The yellow car broke down on Friday. We won't know what is wrong with it until today. Fingers crossed, but Blake thinks it might be the engine. Sad.
My Dad came and visited. It was fun. Pictures to come.
We have been planning our annual Easter party. Pictures to come on that too.
Oh.
PS: Baby is due Sept. 4th. I am 18 weeks along. We find out if this little critter is a boy or a girl on the 14th of April.

We Are Having Baby Number 4.

There I said it.
I tried to think of fun or creative ways to say it but lets face it...number 4 is well....the forth.
Not any less important.
Just not as exciting as number 1.
So it is out there now.
That is how we roll.

PS. I just realized the other day, that by having another baby, when we go out to eat we are going to have a party of six all by ourselves. They are going to have to push tables together to accommodate us.

Quick Fix

This is a dress that I have had my eye on for quite sometime. It finally went on sale and I was trying to decide if it was going to be too short for me. I have come to find out that I must have a freakishly long torso because dresses are always too short on me even when they come to other peoples knees. After much debate I decided just to give it a go. If it was too short I could just return it. Well long story, still kinda long...it was too short on me. Not such a big surprise. But I just couldn't part with it. So I decided to add the black band at the bottom to make it long enough. I have to say that I heart it quite a bit. I wore it to church a couple of Sunday's ago and got lots of compliments on it. Sure, a skirt with a "tunnel of love" or a "fortunes stand" might not be up every ones alley but it is sure up mine.
(Thanks Clee for braving the mall and picking it up for me.)

That Feels Better

When we first moved into this house Gavin and Laney were both sad about leaving their rooms behind in Vegas. Gavin said that he missed his "Superman wall" and Laney said she missed her pink bedroom. We are renting this house but I just felt like I couldn't live here for a couple of years with out making it feel like "ours" and I wanted the kids to feel like they have a space that belongs to them. Thank goodness that paint is relatively cheap. This room started out a horrible beige color. Not that beige is bad...but in this room it made it feel old and like a dirty dungeon. Laney's room is the only room with ducts on the ceiling. Beige coupled with ducts made for a very unattractive space. This room also has a mystery door. Not that it is a mystery to us...(it goes to our storage room) but it did tend to add a little creep factor. But if you paint a strange door pink and blue it makes it not so "this is what scary movies are made of."
The trees painted on the walls are Laney's favorite feature. She waited somewhat impatiently for me to finish the pink tree. But now that it is done she tells me all the time that the pink tree is her favorite.

It Was Bound To Happen

Not much is happening at our house lately. Nothing worth blogging about anyways. The kids say funny things so that seems to be the theme of this blog lately. Truth be told most of the people reading this blog care more about them then what is going on in my life anyways. Which by the way is nothing. I am working on a couple of projects and as soon as I finish them I will post pictures.

On another note:
The other day when shopping at Walmart we were standing in line to check out when I had the following conversation with Laney:
Laney: Why is that persons skin black?
Me: Well that is just the color of their skin.
Laney: Are they a boy or a girl?
Me: They are a girl.
Laney: What is their name?
Me: Their name is Lanette
Laney: Can they not talk?
Me: No. They can talk.

I figured one day this would come up. I had hoped it would be in the privacy of our house or car. But what are you going to do? When I was telling Blake the story he asked if I was embarrassed. I told him No. If an adult can't understand why a child is curious then that is their own fault. I always figured that Gavin would be the one to say something like that. However, lately he has been telling me that people have different hair, and skin, and eyes and that that is OK. It is nice to see he is learning diversity in preschool. Especially living here in Utah where there is not much of it.

Honesty

On Monday night we had family home evening. We were talking to the kids about honesty and lying.

During our lesson Gavin said:

"This is my favorite thing about lying....but I'm not going to do it."
and
"I know a lot about lying."
Well at least he is honest.

Triple

I have had a little more motivation lately. Not much but a little.
I went for a walk the other day. It was nice.
Now I have another cold. This girl can't catch a break.
Unless you count this: These are some shoes I picked up from Anthropologie. I bought them for 69 dollars (that is relevant for the story.)
I just sold them on Ebay.
People have been looking for them so I figured...I don't wear mine, might as well sell them.
So I did.
I started the bidding at 79.
The bidding ended at 252.
No lie.
Triple what I paid.
Nice.

Something Is Missing...

I am not really sure what it is. Perhaps it is exercise? Or a project? I have no motivation. I spend too much time on the computer doing nothing. I can't seem to get motivated to start a new project or to even have any creative inclinations. It might be because money is tight, and lets face it being creative or having a hobby requires money. It may be because I have been trapped inside this house, because it is so bloody cold outside, and haven't gotten any exercise that I feel like a blob and can't seem to shake it. I have a hard time trying to convince myself to do something....anything. Sure, there is laundry to fold and things that I could clean, Laney's bedroom has one more tree that is waiting to be painted but I can't bring myself to do any of those things. I figure I need some form of exercise...or maybe just a routine. I am slightly obsessive so a routine is right up my alley. Routine for getting in shape and not being a blob starts tomorrow. I am too tired today.

Regular On Goings At Our House

Canon is notorious for stashing food under his plate at dinner.
He just takes it off his plate and puts it under it.
The other day while cleaning up their rooms I heard Laney say
"Gavin you got sticky balls for your birthday."
Oh....
While cleaning up the next day the following conversation took place:
Laney: "Gavin what do you have a lifesaver for?"
Gavin: "So if people are mean I will just kill them with it."
Makes perfect sense.

Blake

I knew I loved you from the first time we went out.
I love you more each day.
You feel like Home to me.
Happy 8 years.

I Love

When two shows I watch collide.
I am not talking about a "cross over event" like Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice do.
That bugs.
I am talking about Big Brother and The Amazing Race.
Jeff and Jordan from Big Brother are going to be on the Amazing Race.
Awesome.
I also love this dress.
(This is not me in the picture. Just a blog I look at.)

I am going to have to save my pennies to get this dress. Unless there are any people that would like to donate to "the rocking dress" fund?

Any takers?

No?

Saving my allowance it is then.

It's Like An Orange On A Toothpick

I took Canon to the doctor the other day for his year check up.
I know I am behind but with all of the ear infections/ruptured ear drums there was not much I could do about it.
When they did his weight he was 19.6 lbs.
Not good.
He is getting close to a year and half old and has yet to hit the 20 lb. mark.
Laney has always been small too so I explained that to the doctor.
She said "because Laney was small we won't run all of the tests we normally do for children that are under weight. We consider this 'failure to thrive."
Crap.
So now Canon is on a special diet of "anything and everything that is remotely bad for you."
He gets to drink milk that is 1/2 whole milk 1/2 whipping cream.
I kid not.
They informed me that his weight is in the under 3 percentile but his head is in the 80th percentile. His height is 25th percentile.
Our kids have big heads.
However, is it just me or does that make him sound a little freakish.
Something like this could cause serious self esteem problems at a later date.
Actually I think we are pretty OK as long as we don't start referring to him as "Head".

Day 7 (Final Day)

Sorry I am late talking about my actual Birthday.
I am still trying to get off the present high.
My morning started out greeted by this little monster. He may be the cutest gift card holder ever.
I love him.
And my Anthropologie gift card that Blake got for me.
I went for my manicure and pedicure first thing in the morning.
Then I went out to lunch with my sister Sarah at the Garden.
We had yummy sandwiches and fun talking.
Then we went shopping at the Gateway.
Sarah doesn't really understand my love for Anthropologie...
but she was a good shopping buddy none the less.
I got some lovely things.
Sarah got me a cast iron pot that I am so excited about.
Blake made me a cake. From scratch.
The first one he messed up...so he made it again.
Determination paid off because it was like a work of art.
He would like me to call him the cake master. I'm thinking about it.
We went to Red Robin for my free Birthday Burger.
We came home.
It was a fabulous day.

This is one of the tops and a necklace that I got for my Birthday, holding the cake that Blake made.

31...here I am.

Day 6

Somehow yesterday I managed to get a 24 hour flu.
It was horrible.
I am feeling much better today but am super worn out.
I feel like I could take a very long nap.
Which is exactly what I did yesterday.
Today's present is perfect.
Nothing will make you feel better than having your toes and nails done.
Trust me when i say mine are bad.

Day 5

When I see a little box like this sitting on the counter I can't help but feel gitty.
Good things always come from these boxes.
Blake and Anthropologie have done it again.
These tank tops are quite possibly the best invention ever.
They are double sided. A v-neck on one side a scoop neck on the other.
They are stretchy so they suck you in and slim you out in all the right places.
Lovely.

Day 4

I am sad today.
I should not be. It is Hananuka!
I think I am feeling sorry for myself.
Nothing makes a day better than flowers.
It makes the day a little more pretty.

You also can't help but smile at a witty poem. Even if you are sad.

Day 3

This was more of a necessity.
I love it anyways.
My can opener was dying...well it was pretty much dead.
I was going to buy a new one the other day and Blake was quite adamant that I not.
So I knew this was coming.
I am just glad it did.
We wouldn't want another incident after all would we?

Day 2

I love getting cutlery for presents. For the last two years I have gotten Furi knives. This year I got these (the colored ones) from Williams Sonoma. The other one is a lettuce cutter.

Hananuka Is Here And In Full Effect!

Yeah! Let the fun begin.
Have I ever mentioned that I have the best family/friends ever.
Thanks for contributing to my Hananuka soundtrack! (You can zoom in for a glimpse at the goodness)
