Cheese

The other day I realized that I have not taken any pictures of Gavin and Laney together for a while. So I decided to take them outside and see if I could get something cute.

This picture says "Rock, I love you."

This one I have titled "Mom, I am looking at you."

This is Gavin's "Cheese" face. I had to keep telling him not to say cheese because it makes him look like he is in pain.

Laney's "Cheese" face. Not so painful.

Loving each other.

I finally figured out that the key to making them smile and laugh is to scare them. Who knew that a good "Boo" would work?

Now if I could only make it so that Laney's bangs weren't so funky. You can't have it all right?

All In A Week

I have been a little lax about keeping everyone up to speed on everything "Unguren". Here is the weeks down low.

Blake has something very exciting coming on Wednesday...stay tuned.

Gavin got sick on Wednesday of last week and was throwing up and just laid around. Laney was pretty angry at Gavin that he wasn't playing with her and kept pestering him. I do have to say that I think that Laney was harder to take care of that day than Gavin.
But they are best friends and she did miss her friend playing with her.

That night Gavin felt much better and so we decided to go to

They were having cheesecake for $1.50. So why not?

On Thursday we went to Target (a family favorite). Got some popcorn and Icee and looked around. We got some more diapers and wipes and only spent $1.60.

Then on Friday we went to see Batman with our friends the Andrews. It was a great movie. The Joker is crazy! Grandma Dana came and watched the kids for us. Grandma Dana had her toe nails painted blue and so Laney thought she needed the same. (Laney's were painted pink at the time but due for a new coat of paint.)

So on Saturday Laney's toes became boo. (That means blue for those of you that don't speak Laney.)

We also registered at the hospital which gives us one less thing to worry about.

Letter Me Happy

Seriously how cute are these letters?! I love them. I just keep thinking of all the things I could do with them. Spell out Laney's name in her room, perhaps spell out Unguren above some family pictures. Oh, the possibilities.

Mt. Charleston

Last weekend we went with our friends the Andrews up to Mt Charleston. It is about 50 minutes from where we live and about 20 degrees cooler. Who knew their is such a thing as a forest in the desert?

The kids enjoyed exploring on a longer "leash" than normalThere was some throwing of kids in the air. (Laney liked it. Gavin did not.)
This is Mike and Lauren's little girl Maddie. She is so cute and Gavin and Laney just had the best time with her.We ate some lunch and then had smores. Sticky, messy, deliciousness.

The kids all played in the dirt and got quite messy. Gavin ended up with LOTS of dirt in his hair and Maddie had a dirt black eye but we all had a great time.

Clumsy

So on Sunday as I was being so graceful walking down the stairs my toe bent underneath me and down I went. I fell on my back and proceeded to slide down about 3 stairs. All I could say was ouch. My toe hurt my back hurt, it was no fun. Since we were suppose to leave in 10 minutes to go to church I pulled out my red high heel and shoved my foot into it. By the end of church my feet where swollen and I couldn't wait to take off my shoes.

When I took off my shoe this is what I discovered. Not pretty. Yes my toes are not pretty on their own but one of them being a pretty shade of blue makes it worse. I asked Blake if he thought I should tape them together so that it would heal and maybe straighten the toe out. Blake was so thoughtful that he pointed out, "I think your toe is beyond help. Even before the accident."

  • two months left until baby comes
  • two pounds is all I gained at my last appointment
  • two people coming to help when baby is born
  • two new things is all we have bought for this baby (kinda sad. kinda cool)
  • two little kids that we already have that are not going to know what to do with themselves when the baby is here.
  • two more weeks until I go to appointments every two weeks
  • two hours seems to be my average wait time at the doctor

A couple of things that involve the number two but have nothing to do with baby:

  • two: the number of items that Blake is ordering today that will improve our transportation needs
  • two: the number of naps I am going to want to take today after all of the cleaning I have planned. Wish me luck.

Purrrfect

Gavin informed me the other day that Aunt Sarah has kitties. He also told me that when the baby comes out then I can have a kitten in my tummy and than we can have kitties like Aunt Sarah. Blake told Gavin that in fact Mommy does not carry kitties in her tummy we get kitties at the store. Meow.

Quirky Gavin

Gavin has been enjoying Peter Pan lately. He has been dressing up like Jon.

Notice the similarities. Glasses. Check. Hat. Check....kinda. (We don't have a top hat so a flower hat should do.)

It's Done...Kinda

So I finished painting the city scape on Gavin's wall. We are changing his room over so that it is a Batman/Superman theme. Now all I have to do is make a Superman Quilt (I'll post again when I finish it) and we are done.

Random

These are some things that have been on my mind:

  • I really dislike Blake's car! (Not to be confused with my car that I love.) It died again...and it keeps doing this. We don't know why. We would love to buy another car that we have been saving up for but alas we have this to worry about

  • We are still keeping our fingers crossed that Blake doesn't get layed off. Business here in Vegas is stinking it up. Most of our friends here are having problems with Layoffs too.

  • This is how many weeks I have left until baby comes. Please, Oh Please let us have insurance for at least that long.
  • Blake made a funny comment the other day and I can't stop thinking about it. He was telling me about a time that we went somewhere together and I pointed out to him that the person in the story was not me. I made a comment along the lines of "it must have been your other girlfriend." And his reply was, "I guess it doesn't matter if it was my other girlfriend because she is not in the memory anymore. It's you now. So you should be happy." I guess there comes a time when reality is not really what happened and just how we remember it.

Gavin's Opinion

My new calling at church is nursery. (I have had it for about a month and a half.) I am also the activity days leader. Yes, I am a two calling kind of gal. Well, in our nursery they have it split in two. Older and Younger. Laney is in the Younger and Gavin is in the Older. I asked to not be in with Laney because she is finally starting to adjust and I don't want to mess with that. So I am in with Gavin. This was our conversation when we got home from church:

Me: Laney did you have fun in nursery today?
Laney: some grunts that mean yes.
Me: Did you play with toys and sing songs?
Laney: starts to sing head, shoulders, knees and toes....(we can only really understand the motions and the word toes.)
Gavin: I had fun in nursery today.
Me: Tell Dad what you did.
Gavin: Well, I can play by myself and have snacks and sing. So, Mom, I don't want you to come to nursery with me anymore.
Me: Well honey I have to come it is my calling.
Gavin: Well I don't want you to. I want to be by myself. Please don't come anymore. You can go somewhere else.

It is funny. Most kids want their parents in with them. Even scream and cry when they leave. Yet, Gavin wants me to be somewhere else. If only it were that easy.

Raging Personality

Laney has decided that she is capable of picking out her own outfits. For the most part she does really well. She normally knows what goes together and knows what colors look good with what. Normally. Her latest favorite accessory is her pink foaties. Then there are times when her outfits are less than desirable. I couldn't resist with this picture. She has got such a funky look on her face. But I laugh every time I see it.

Pictures Galore

Our Day started on the pier at Newport Beach. We walked to the end and went to a restaurant called Ruby's. While we were waiting for our table to be ready the kids watched the people fish off of the pier. They also enjoyed watching the planes pulling banners. Then we went down to the beach. Everything is fun and games until the kids get dirty. And they got dirty! Yes, he is eating a dirt covered Funyuns. Appetizing No?
(On the way off the beach as we were leaving Laney decided to throw a tantrum by throwing her self face down on the beach. I have never seen a little girls face more dirty. She got sand in her eyes, nose and mouth. Blake and I both chuckled and said "perhaps she won't be throwing any more tantrums like that.") We tried some preventative maintenance to keep the kids clean with the occasional Ocean dip and it worked for Laney. She loved the Ocean. Gavin on the other hand wanted nothing to do with it. He actually started to cry if we even suggested it.

By the end our kids were exhausted. Laney fell asleep on my shoulder which is something that she NEVER does. We went back to the hotel took a bath and then back out we went for dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Gavin and Laney both got balloons from the restaurant and were super pleased.

However, Laney lost her balloon and it was devastating. The look on her face....sad.

When we were all done we packed the kids in the car and headed back to the hotel. This time Laney ended up sleeping on the floor.

All in all I would say it was a great little trip.

Laney's Rendition of "Dark Blue"

We bring you a little music interlude by Laney. We are sorry to postpone the rest of the California trip pictures however due to unforeseen Blogger problems we have no other choice. Enjoy.

We would like to point out that this IS the same song Gavin sang here. If you want to listen to the real thing here is a link.

One more thing of interest to note. Gavin in an attempt to escape after bath time goes streaking through the video.

Our Trip

Let me preface this post with some news from here. Here in Vegas things are slow, business wise. They have had numerous layoffs at Blake's work. We have managed to dodge the bullets so far. This last layoff was especially disturbing being that there is not that many people left. So now it is a waiting game to see if they do another layoff. With all of that going on we decided to take a break from reality and go to California, Long Beach to be exact.

We rented a car and drove to the hotel. Put on our swimsuits and went for a dip. The kids were so excited about their floaties. (Gavin was also excited about the car we "borrowed.") We thought for sure that Laney would love the pool...nope, not so much. Gavin on the other hand was jumping off the side and going under water. After wearing themselves out by swimming, jumping on the bed and inspecting every nook and cranny of the hotel room it was bedtime. It started out good and then went from fun to just down right noisy. Gavin had to get transplanted to the floor so that they would go to sleep. Goodnight finally.

Yep.

For the last week I have sounded similar to this (but I did not look this cute)
For the Fourth of July we went here

We went to the beach and now I look like this(hopefully cuter)
With the coughing and the sunburn I pretty much feel like this

(it looks like crap...if you can't tell.)

THE END.
